Re:: Deep House?

U can't beat Pete Heller's Nite Life for some deep progressive house grooves :Bingo:

#224538Post 10 of 33

Re:: Deep House?

DJ Meri, one half of Estonian DJ / production team Rulers Of The Deep, drops a solo single on NRK that oozes pure house class. 'Everything' is a lush deep house track with ethereal vocals from Estonian singer Helen Syrje. Summertime chords and blissed out keys can make this track a real summer fixture in the more discerning clubs, whilst the two dub mixes on the flip offer more robotic, heads down house action.

ps. DUB mixes ROXXXXXXX

Re:: Deep House?

wouldn't migs be considered under san francisco house or west coast house?

not trying to break it down into sub genres and such but thats what i heard. all i know is that any house is good house...well except hard house. ugh. lol

I've heard the artist Distance referred to as "deep house maestros", so maybe they count. ;) Check out their "Clear your Mind" single on Automatic or their "Sentiment" single on Niche Blue. Absolutely fantastic stuff.

Look for Ben Watt's cd, formely of Lazy Dog & Everything But the Girl "Buzz'N'Fly Volume 1"... Hes got a great deep house/urban sound going... The best of this genre I've heard this year...

From an Irish perspective you cannot beat Greg'n'Shane, there label is Fish Go Deep.. they have been mixing it deep style going on 20 years in Cork... A class act... bodytonic.com was hosting one on thier sets a while ago...

Others include Jay Hannan, David Alvarado, Francois K, Julis Papp, Mark Farina...

Agreed on the previous comment on the vocal side of Deep House, I find it gets boring very quickly...

On the plus side chicks love it.. Always get a nice selection on a Deep House night.... Giggity, giggity, giggity!

Re:: Deep House?

I'll second that Buzzin Fly cd...really good deep house. Also check out last year's Jay-J and Miguel Migs "In The House", absolutely superb compilation (Jay-J's also got a newer cd called Loveslap 3, but I haven't heard it yet), and lastly Jay Hannan's got a new cd out called Underdog that recently came out.

I honestly can't belive that a thread was made about Deep House amd NO ONE mentions the real Deep House DJ's.

 1. Frankie Knuckles
 2. David Morales
 3. Frankie Feliciano
 4. Kerri Chandle
 5. Lil Louis
 6. The Legend himself Tony Humphries

Re:: Deep House?

:lol: Ruby you of all people should feel me on this Jersy style list. :wink:

Re:: Deep House?
:lol: Ruby you of all people should feel me on this Jersy style list. :wink:
I absolutely do. It's unfortunate how little people actually realize that Jersey has contributed to the development of house music and the club scene. There's so much focus on the Paradise Garage and the Loft, that places like Zanzibar hardly get mentioned or are remembered any more, but those Jersey clubs were breaking as many records and artists as the NY clubs were.

I Guess the OVUM record label raps this one up!

such a true deep house in europe might deserve at last a flat house designation. it is as deep a puddle next to my staircase. altough I really do appreciate their input in the overall house music evolution. morover I heard morales once and must tell u he really shouldn't have got spinning.

Re:: Deep House?

How about Marques Wyatt???

He fucking rules!!!

"Marques Wyatt is a messenger of the deepest, most soulful kind of house music. Beneath his relaxed, spiritual and unknowingly suave persona, therein lies a man partially responsible for giving birth to the West Coast house scene and bringing the fresh sounds of New York to Los Angeles beginning in the mid eighties. Carefully pointing out that he has "always had a deep passion for music," you know that his adoration of house has become its gateway into the lives of thousands of people. Promoting and playing an enormous amount of parties including BBC, Brass, MAC's Garage, Does Your Mama Know? and currently Deep, over the years, Marques has changed the face of LA nightclubbing and the presentation of its music and sound."
