CD buying addiction continues...

Amazon.com has kicked the shit out of me. It's so easy to buy the used cd's and it's really cheap...most of the time. I just bought 5 of Bukem's Progression Session series (two of which are out of print) and Craig Richards - Fabric 01 for under $88 including shipping. Worth it to me. Currently in my cart...

Lost in Time - Sandra Collins Foundations Granite - Bedrock Records ($0.84!) Fabric Live 22 - Scratch Perverts Transport 4 - Max Graham This is Everybody! On Tour - Sander Kleinenberg & Lee Burridge Renaissance: The Master Series - Hernan Cattaneo Renaissance: The Master Series, Vol. 2 - Hernán Cattáneo Northern Exposure II: West Coast - Sasha & John Digweed Northern Exposure II: East Coast - Sasha & John Digweed Northern Exposure 1 - Sasha & John Digweed Northern Exposure III: Expeditions - Sasha & John Digweed Global Underground Ibiza - Sasha Global Underground: San Francisco - Sasha Global Underground Hong Kong - John Digweed Global Underground Buenos Aires - Dave Seaman Global Underground Melbourne - Dave Seaman Global Underground Cape Town - Dave Seaman Global Underground Nubreed - Satoshi Tomiie Airdrawndagger - Sasha Bedrock - John Digweed MMII - John Digweed

A subtotal of $227. That's about $10 a cd and most are double disc. In many cases these cd's are brand new and never been opened.

A while back, I had a cd case of 250 or so stolen.

Re: CD buying addiction continues...

that explains the addiction.... instead od spending $227 on all that, spend another $23 and get an Ipod

Re: CD buying addiction continues...

great list of cd's there, and for the real cd's that's a bargin. of course i have almost all of those on mp3. but there is nothing like having the real thing with the books and all.

Re: CD buying addiction continues...

Already have an Ipod and all of these on mp3. Collecting the real cd's has been a hobby for more than a decade. Somebody's got to feed all these artist and labels.

Re: CD buying addiction continues...

Damn, that is one hell of a list. But it is also a lot of fun to just splurge on buying a bunch of cds.

How is the second cd? I love the first and have had it since it came out way back when. Just wondering if the new version is worth picking up for the added tracks.

Re: CD buying addiction continues...

I'm the same way. Most of the stuff I've purchased has been through Caiman.com.

Re: CD buying addiction continues...

I purshase far more than most and i spent alot more on aqquiring than most too . Music collecting sets me back around £180 a month . which includes buying in shops, buying online, subscribing to sites and also my broadband connection + the expendicture of buying storage to keep it in . so i tend not to feel too ashamed about collecting music illegaly because i spend far more than ure average Joe . To be honnest it pisses me off when i hear about ppl who buy two albums a month say they think these ppl who download music are destroying the industry and deserve all they get .. We tend to spend alot more supporting an industry we love . Than these tight pocketed fuckwads ever will ..

i could go on but i won't

Re: CD buying addiction continues...

i buy a LOT of cds, not $200 at a time by any means, but probably 2 or 3 a week pretty consistently throughout a year.

Re: CD buying addiction continues...

I too like to buy cds, the rates at which I buy cds changes over the years depending on how much I make at my current job. In order to soften the blow to my wallet I have considered working at a music store just so I can get music at discount prices. With over 1000 cds and far more on mp3, the only problem is deciding on is if I should get into the SACD/DVD-A formats. My end goal is to have a catalog of music larger then virgin/tower records. This is the only addiction I have and I shall never quit :P Music is the soundtrack of my life.

Yeah CD2 is pretty cool, more house orientated, but probably not worth picking this up if you have the original.

Cant wait for that fabric mix, its gonna be something special

Re: CD buying addiction continues...

i certainly cannot ever see myself buying mp3's. i love to own the actual cd. the reason i would prefer to buy a cd then to steal it is cause i like supporting the artist as well as having a hard copy.

Thats about what I spend on records in a month ($400 US). I should spend the money to get a nicer car but I'm fucking addicted. And I haven't even been playing out in the last year but still spending the $$.

Re: CD buying addiction continues...

You may want to hold off on those Seaman mixes...

Great pickup with the Craig Richards' Fabric. One of my all-time favorite mixes. 8)

Re: CD buying addiction continues...

I can't believe anyone on this board still buys music with the vast amount of sets available to us in MS&R

Re: CD buying addiction continues...

well it's good that they do, making contributions to the artists for the music we enjoy is a fair trade off imo.

buying music is a very healthy practice for fans of any type of music.

some people just think they were sent from god to be musical sponges and for them to download (legally or not) everything they come into contacts with and never pay for a cent of it.

dont get me wrong, i love finding me some livesets, but i've spent a few dimes on vinyl/mp3s/comps.

most comps i enjoy i buy purely for the sq since most of the time its played in my car on the system.

Re: CD buying addiction continues...

I will say this though .. It has took me a full week to transfer all my music onto one large drive . Due to the fact that some of the legit stuff dosn't like being copied transfered or moved . I had to do it all almost track by track .. been one long huge headache . Anyhows I'm back on slsk again, srry for being off it for so long guys
