Re: Who Should Be the First Female To do A GU??

My vote is for Chloe Harris.

I have always been a big fan of hers... Its been a long time since I have heard something from her.... I am definatly going through withdrawl. I miss your music chloe.

Re: Who Should Be the First Female To do A GU??

So my vote is somewhat biased, in that I have not seen/heard Chloe Harris or many other female DJ's....

I have seen Sandra Collins live and she would be my second option. DJ Rap would be my first choice, granted her sets are a bit more hardcore than the GU scene. I'm surprised no one has mentioned her.

Does she spin anything besides Drum n' Bass? GU is all about the proggy.

Not quite sure what all she does, I do not have a lot of her stuff...

Her style IS more d&B and breaks...but it would still be interesting.

Re: Who Should Be the First Female To do A GU??

yeah rap plays dnb and breaks

Re: Who Should Be the First Female To do A GU??

im suprised that such a musically inclined board has yet to mention DJ Heather. Although she might not spin prog, he skills puts every other girl dj to shame. cheers to her.

Re: Who Should Be the First Female To do A GU??

there are ladies who are talent blessed but I am seriously over the female DJ threads. Yes there aren't many of us and all but it gets old with me. Sadly females will always be novelties because of our gender... and questions like these will always come up that reinforce it. I'm saying it out of observation...

Everytime a female DJ question of this sort gets asked, I wonder why people never ask who the 1st Latino, Black or Jewish DJ to do a GU?

Note I'm NOT a feminist, PC or a liberal!!!

Re: Who Should Be the First Female To do A GU??

uh let's get serious here.

What are GU compilations supposed to include? Not that these are written rules but isn't it something like: 1- a dj with a long time standing reputation with a forward thinking sound 2- progressive.

I may be wrong here in saying this but how many reputable progressive world touring female dj is there out there?

I can't think of any.

No disrespect to Chloé Harris ( love her stuff use to listen to her back in the day on groovetech ) Ariel Cybana ( who's quite the star on myspace these days :-P ) or Sandra Collins ( who kicks peoples asses at Tetris at after parties ( true story ) and others but I honestly can't think of one female that fits the profile; yet.

If anyone has better suggestions enlighten us all, please!

In regards to the progressive and the quality there's been a shift in the last 5 or so GUs ( if not more ) so really anything can happen.

Chloe, Chloe, Chloe!

(glad to see so much support for chloe in this thread. Is it just me or has she become very dormant as of late?)

Re: Who Should Be the First Female To do A GU??

Chloe Harris ...but she would need to decide on her genre once and for all.

i can't think of any female dj that would be up for a GU. and besides i don't think gender should be a reason for choosing the new GU dj

not to derail the thread, but since when did dj's have to limit themselves to a single genre?

Re: Who Should Be the First Female To do A GU??
my vote would be for miss kittin- i think she would kick some serious ass
I totally agree. I think Miss Kittin would make a stellar Nubreed disk, esp. if she was able to do her vocals on top of the records. Her style doesn't really work well for the 24/7 format, which is a shame, as that's my favorite 'style' of CD's that GU puts out.

Not many people may like her 'sound', but at the end of the day it's something new to be exposed to. Can't argue with that.

#534352Post 79 of 114

Re: Who Should Be the First Female To do A GU??

I would go for Anna Maria X ..second choice Chloe Harris ..third Miss kittin ..last Sandra Collins
