anyone in Santa Monica need a roommate?

hey, I'm moving to Santa Monica, and want to live with a roommate since it is a ton cheaper. Anyone looking, or know anyone who is or anything? Just thought I'd throw it out there. I got a new job, working at JBL (the speaker company)...

okay, that's all... back to the shadows of MS.

Re: anyone in Santa Monica need a roommate?

roomates suck. especially people you are friends with. my advice: live in a studio apartment or motel. any headaches you have from not being able to afford bills / rent on your own will pale in comparison to that a roomate bings on. good luck in your search.

Re: anyone in Santa Monica need a roommate?

well I will see about the discount, I haven't started working there yet, but I will know in a few weeks. Then I we can create an MS club somewhere!

So yea, I looked on craigslist and westside rentals, the two de facto best places to find rooms/roommates. the one bedrooms are 1100-1300 (the ones I liked were 1250 and 1150). and the shared ones are from 750 to 950... I don't know, 350-400 bucks a month is a lot of money to save..

But I do understand that having roommates can start to suck if you don't get along. I generally hate most people....

Re: anyone in Santa Monica need a roommate?

santa monica is too expensive and over priced and you get a pieace of crap place, my advice is lookin for somethin in west los angeles, when i lived there i had a nice big 2 bedroom apt. and it was in the middle of everything. santa monica was like 5 or 10 mins away depending on the traffic and westwood is like 10 mins away. perfect area in my opinion. you basically get your moneys worth.

Re: anyone in Santa Monica need a roommate?

like jibs said ..having a roomie is a pain in the ass.. the one i have now is like a fucking wife... anyway im getting divorced soon.. i havent lived alone in 12 years, its been either a girl or roomates..cant wait to walk around my house in my birthday suit:oops: ..nah dont do that, but living alone looks blissful....hey and 1100 dollars in so cal is like 700 somewhere else..so look at it that way

just bought a couple of JBL's 400Watt each for doing gigs with a 1000 wat power amp. all for 500 euro. second hand as they are too exepnsive new, discount or no discount. I bought them from a crowd I use to always hire them from... worth a look in to. They are solid speakers, with all the use they have had there is not a bother on them. JBL's are built to last

Re: anyone in Santa Monica need a roommate?

Can you have my JBL sub repaired? thanks

#511432Post 13 of 14

Re: anyone in Santa Monica need a roommate?

yea, they have a repair center in the place I'm working, I'm sure they can repair it..

Yea, I think I'm actually looking in west LA as opposed to santa monica, but kinda close to the border.

I live in a 1 bedroom now, and it's pretty nice not to have to worry about anyone else being around, but the savings is so nice... Even after the cheaper rent, the fact that you pay so much less for utilities adds up too. Also, I just looked at a place that has a huge bedroom, so I could basically live in the bedroom and not really have to see anyone else if I want to. Plus my roomates would always be in their rooms too, and I would have my own bathroom....

So yea, living alone is nice, but I think after 2 years of it, I am ok to live with some roomates again, see how it goes, and I might end up moving back to a 1 bedroom in 6 or 8 months if I don't like it.

As for JBL, I think it will be a cool job. The people there seem really smart. I know they don't make the best speakers in the world, but it's not like I'll be working for BOSE (sorry if there are any BOSE fans or employees out there, but I have been less than impressed with their stuff).

so wait, where exactly is west la? Between Santa Monica and Westwood? The places I'm looking at are north of the 10, and just West of the 405, but south of Brentwood (which I think it way too expensive for me).
