Will electro become a fad in the progressive world, the same as the deeeep, daaark, scaaaary sounds of Digweed's GU19?

I just listened to the new Dorigen promo, by Jerry Bonham... it even has some electro sounds to it!

Opinions..?

Me likey...

Re:: Now that electro has gone "mainstream"....

Electro music is not so determined actually..Afrika Bambaataa's Planet Rock (1982) is generally considered the first electro record.. how much it has changed till then??

Re:: Now that electro has gone "mainstream"....

Electro done with class and used sparingly in productions will help it not to become a fad. Only time will tell though!

Nigel,

I remember listening to a cool mix of your a long time ago... any chance u have mmore mixes available?

#222328Post 5 of 45

Re:: Now that electro has gone "mainstream"....

electro = the hotness

it's good to see electro-influenced records... it's good to get back to where it started and take a new spin on a classic sound... much like techno having a resurgence as of late... it can only be good news imo...

Electro is the trance. Pretty soon it will be everywhere, But by that time we will all be listening to something else.

#222416Post 10 of 45

hmm, i don't know what kind of electro you guys are listening to,

but Two Lone Swordsmen, radioactiveman, 214, AlterEgo, etc.... type stuff is far from trance or mainstream.

#222419Post 11 of 45

you cant question jenks on this one.............he is the authority

sorry, but there wasn't one ounce of electro in digweed's gu 19.

alpha 606, Bell, microthol, tls, octagon man...that's electro.

#222443Post 13 of 45

Re:: Now that electro has gone "mainstream"....

I was making an analogy on how that cd started the whole dark progressive musical trend of 3 years ago...

I know that cd didn?t have an ounce of electro...

The correct way to say it would be: " I don't like electro very much but I love progressive house...progressive is the king of music"

just a little english lesson

#222579Post 17 of 45

i wouldn't bother with the english lessons...

plus, he's so much more interesting when he's spouting the jibba jabba that he spouts now imo...

A lot of the stuff Sasha's been spinning these days has some electro influences, especially when I saw him at his Involver promotion.
A lot of the stuff Sasha's been spinning these days has some electro influences, especially when I saw him at his Involver promotion
Sasha demonstrated that electro and progressive DO get along nicely... at his last stop here in Mexico, he was deep into progressive then out of the blue he dropped and electro tune... i?m sure it was spekturm's kinda new.

Lee Burridge, on the other hand, is the king of electro sets... the music he's hammering right now is pure frickin class! Hands down the best set of the year so far.

Veredict: electro is much fun now... more of a party feel to it.

#222737Post 20 of 45

Re:: Now that electro has gone "mainstream"....

Electro has been mainstream since the mid 70s. I would say Oxygene Jean Michel Jarre was first mainstream electro .Even Gary Numan was about before Africa Bambatta.

ugh...that's not electro.

not.

not.

not.

do yourselves a favor, go to www.electroalliance.net listen to some record samples, the evil analog bleepy breaky stuff. THAT's electro. Lee and Sasha don't play that. They play house with analog sounds, far from proper electro.

...electroalliance rules.

yes i have heard the maetrik mix, dig it. i lose it in places, but the mixing is tight as fuck, and electro isn't the easiest genre to mix like that.

i just get so fucking annoyed when people toss around genre names, and apply them to themselves or superstar djs, when they obviously have no clue what their talking about...just stealing the buzz term. "Electro is mainstream now!!" pfft, please.

#223037Post 25 of 45

Re:: Now that electro has gone "mainstream"....

someone please define electro and name some examples of djs and artists that they consider electro.

(booty sorta.) electronic corporation. (all sorts.) stilleben. (harder sometimes.) rephlex. (mental fucked up shit.) environ. (pretty mellow stuff.) datapunk. (electroclashy.) underground resistance. Re:: Now that electro has gone "mainstream"....

Chloe,

I?m making a reference to an earlier post in this thread... not u.

Anyways, where will u be playing?

#223332Post 37 of 45

very subtle jgcamil.

i was merely making a point. annoyed might have been the wrong word to use, i don't get mad over text.

I <3 Electro. I don't want to see it go mainstream, then djs like sasha will start fucking it up.

Definitely go to www.ironboxmusic.com and download Maetrik's electro mix, tell me what you think of it, i'm curious. It's not hardcore analog electro off the deep end, so probably a good starting point.

cheers
