i'm only getting some notices about replys. not every thread i post in turns up a notifying email. which is ok in some cases, but if i want to watch a certain thread i have no idea if i get the reply's.

over the weekend i recieved a couple PM's but never got an email saying so. plus i have a pop-up blocker so my pm window doesnt open and half the time i dont think to look up top for a new message.

dunno whats up with all this. i know you dudes have been working your tails off, and its certainly appreciated.

I've notice another new problem, a lot of bounced back errors to my admin account....... it could be that our ISP is blocked by a lot of ISP's as being on a spamming list and so notices of watched topics are bouncing back to me,

What I don't understand is that I always used to get the notifications on the same email address... Did my provider suddenly change and put your IP on the blacklist? Or did you change your IP?

Just wondering, as I'm really missing my email reminders - it helps me to keep more in touch with the community....

well we changed WEBHOSTS and the new one is black listed. Another thing to do would be to make sure you click on WATCHED TOPICS everytime you return to the site where all your watched topics are listed, that way you can see all the topics of interest even if you dont receive emails.

could be due to the fact that some isps and specifically mails servers, deny connection (and ultimately failure to deliver email) by ip address. phpbb uses this type of connection in conjuction with sendmail and is a problem for some users on some networks. i myself have seen this problem with some users on my forum; i'm getting their activation emails bounced back to me because of phpbb and how it uses sendmail. this may be causing the problems you are having... i dunno for sure tho, could be wrong, i did minimal research about this when i discovered similar bounced emails myself... ;)

also, keep an eye in your junk email folder, a lot of my reminders ended being thrown into the trash bin + junk email folder

i get the first few replies to topics i start, but after 5 or 6, the notifications taper off.

Jib do you use the "WATCHED TOPIC" link on top ?? That is an amazing alternative to missing emails

On the top of each topic is a menu bar....right next to "Watch this topic for replies" is a button called "Bookmark this topic". Click on it and if you want to check for updates, click on "Bookmarks" on top of the page right next to "Arcade" and "Album" and you see the list of topics you have bookmarked. Regarding the color of the icon next to the topics (darker if new responses are in there and brigher if you have already read them all) you can check quickly if there are new responses or not.

E set the Email server up yesterday...notification Emails should work now..try it again Steve. It can happen that the Emails we send are located in your Spam folder. If so you need to tell your Email client one time that it is no spam mail and the next time you get the notifications in your inbox.

I'm working as a business consultant in an international environment.

Loads of work, loads of travelling (flying) and not always good internet connections (depending on the client, airport, business lounge, hotel etc. you're staying at that time....

Like the work though (but it takes too much of your free time ;-))
