I?m very very VERY exited about this, his past two DE9 were amazing, and with this cd/dvd being a 96 minute 5.1 recording with some visuals i bet its going to take the audio (trip) experience a bit further.

from www.richiehawtin.com

CD/DVD Release UK/EUROPE - 31 OCT USA - 15 NOV

[I]DE9: Transition has been from start to end constructed, and composed to be a completely immersive experience , allowing you to get further in to the heart of it (the music?) all....and this time, even closer to the edit

Re: Richie Hawtin "Transitions"

had it on pre-order for well over a month. Very excited about this. Got my DVD player and speakers hooked up. All i need to do is shut the curtains, turn the lights off, crank the stereo up to maximum and see what mad sh1t he has come up with this time! Cant wait.

Re: Richie Hawtin "Transitions"

richie hawtin is awesome. this will be a great release for sure. i have decks, efx & 909, and de:9 closer to the edit at home and they both get regular play. also have a couple of plastikman cds (sheet one and artifakts) but need to pick up the rest still. i saw richie in portland on august 31st, if this cd is half as good as the set he played that night, it will be well worth the $

and to top it off, my girlie asked me to get her a sound system for christmas (little does she know the second its hooked up - its hawtin time)

Re: Richie Hawtin "Transitions"

I don´t have a dvd player at the moment, but a friend of mine has a big flat screen and a bad ass 5.1 dvd/audio system, I´m going to play this at his house if he likes it or not!

Re: Richie Hawtin "Transitions"

It's fantastic.. Have had it for nearly a month and it's been non-stop in my DVD player. Do it proper and listen to the DVD first and then the CD. The videos on the DVD are great and the way it shows each track as it comes and goes is fantastic! I like the cover art of the cd as well. Am excited to see him play in Minneapolis this Thursday :)

Re: Richie Hawtin "Transitions"

Have yet to hear any other 5.1 cd/dvd's like those Moonshine did but this imo is the future of mix albums.

How does it sound? Is it minimal like DE9?

#501316Post 10 of 60

Re: Richie Hawtin "Transitions"

It's a mixture of progressive (at least the definition of progressive in my mind) and minimal... More darker and deeper than DE9. My friend who writes for URB did an interview with Hawtin, more than likely that interview will either go up on:

http://www.illypses.com/

or another site in the next few days.. I'll post it once it's up.

Re: Richie Hawtin "Transitions"

its out monday in UK!

I know i can wait for it, i just always wonder how people get hold of these things so early.. really annoys me especially if they just downloaded it from soulseek or something. Fair enough if your lucky enough to be sent a promo though

#501609Post 19 of 60

Re: Richie Hawtin "Transitions"

i want i want i want

the dvd sounds pretty wicked.

last time i saw hawtin he def played some almost crossover material, so it'll be interesting to see what this new album brings.

Re: Richie Hawtin "Transitions"

One cool thing abou the DVD is when they introduce you to Hawtin's video/graphic designer. Damn those two are on the same page at making twisted shit.

#501772Post 21 of 60

Re: Richie Hawtin "Transitions"

Sounds fantastic... Hawtin is a really creative producer and DJ, and I've been looking forward to have some nice electronic music + visuals to play in my new 5.1 sound system... the neighbours are gonna feel it

yup, i have the track minimissions, sounds great again a masterpiece

5.1 dvd and an mp3 set included for ipod users

#501930Post 25 of 60

Re: Richie Hawtin "Transitions"

One thing i have a problem with is Hawtin taking other artists records, cutting loops out of them, and then calling those loops his own. "Richie Hawtin - Etc etc"

Make your own, or give the artists credit. I guess since he's bigger than life tho he can get away with it. I'm sure it's a fantastic cd, and i can't wait to pick it up, i just don't agree with holier than thou hawtin and him taking advantage of his legendary status doing something like this.

If you don't know what i'm talking about, check the back of the cd when you get it.

#501971Post 26 of 60

Re: Richie Hawtin "Transitions"

^ I guess I kinda see your point. But I am sure the artist are getting something for it. If this was a less known dj that did, he would get sued or something. But it is richie hawtin so I guess anything can go.

On the DVD they still get their proper credit, you'll see the name of the sample/loop/composition that is being used and who the artist is... Also the cover sleeve that is composed of his face shows every artist on the cd if you look closely. Inner notes of album cover also give you a break down of what sample/loop/composition is used to make up the Hawtin track title.

For example:

 1. Minimal Master

Akkiko = Like Ancient Concept 1:96 - 02:04 Ricardo Villalobos - A4 Robert Hood - Home The Kooky Scientist - Organ Donor

But I get Jenks point.. Then again if the original artist doesn't mind, no one else should.
