Re: Micro-house

To me. Micro house is more like what Bernard Gunter does but with a beat behind it. Kind of Lowercase with a 4/4 beat. Minimal house to me is hawtin and brinkmann. I started off listening to minimal techno and house, and just eventually got back to it.

Trentmoller does do some get stuff, but I don't think i'd consider it minimal, As his tracks have a lot of stuff going on with them.

Re: Micro-house

from Ishkur's site. Definition of Micro-House..........

Tech House artists decided to expand their sound into ever more monotonous soundscapes when they decided to create Microhouse: A minimal version of itself not unlike Minimal Techno......only housey. It actually floundered for a few years, narrowly escaping a bitter lawsuit with a software company from Seattle, but lately it's been getting a lot of interesting press more or less because the Glitch guys (like Akufen and Matthew Dear) stumbled upon it and began applying it's sparse aesthete to their clicks and cuts. It now doesn't sound half-bad. When it's sounding like anything at all. Why is it called Microhouse? Because it really IS Micro! The kickdrums, the snares, the hi-hats all sound really compacted and tiny-like, unlike the big booming bassdrums of its brethren genres.

Re: Micro-house

It works really good for opening of a night when you are playing for four hours and want to slowly bring things up.

Re: Micro-house

OMG not that stuff that is impossible to listen to. There is a dj around ohio that plays what he calls noise trance core. Mostly it just sounds like he's trying to be the equivilant of a dj Merzbow. It doesn't work.
