Well, Toshiba has made a 1 1/4 60gb HD, so I'm assuming that will replace the 40gb.

so I think it'll go like this: 20GB 40GB 60GB

Prices should either go down or be the same.

topic should be renamed. ipods are not comign out monday, the magazine is. the ipods havent even been announced yet. according to those sites it says they will be announced in august so that means they wont be out til xmas or beginning next year.

Very true... Apple usually get their stuff out fast after introduction though, even if they have had major problems killing the demand for the mini's.

It seems with that much money involved to purchase an ipod, trivial things like that would not be an issue. They have caught so much flak for that little problem, it seems like they would fix it for customer-relation reasons. It is a big dissentive for me to buy one.

I am a mac allie! I was under the impression that it cost almost as much to get the battery replaced as it would to buy a whole new one. That's what I heard. I don't own one nor do I know anyone that has had to replace their battery.

dude, the product announcement is being released monday - and i'm sure they'll start taking pre-orders. According to those sites, speculation was Apple would do a product announcement in August, but I guess the company realizes that sooner is better than later, since their quarterly earnings are now dependant on ipods.

Fuck iPod. Mine crapped out after 3 months of use. I sent it in, and they did replace the battery after a month (!) because they thought my receipt was out of date for the warranty (had to go through a shitload of red tape). I got myself an iriver 120 off Ebay and am perfectly happy with it. Larger form factor (a little larger than my former iPod) but sound quality seems better, no battery issues that I know off, no iTunes shite to deal with etc etc. Great alternative for the regular iPod, IMO. :Bingo:

You have to feel for all the third party manufacturers who have spent so much money on cases etc for the 3G iPods.

In my opinion there aren't enough changes on the new one to consider upgrading.

We want decent line-in recording!
