Listen here bitches.... I specifically made it clear I hold no sense of geographic-superiority or said anything about cheesy florida breaks.... I know the difference... that being said, breaks in general never really took off in new york. Tribal is NYC's sound, and that is what NY's big parties and legendary afterhours are known for. Of course there is crossover in either direction, but the artists "names" that are hot down in FL aren't very well known up here (lack of exposure being the main reason I assume).
For instance. I fucking LOVE LOVE LOVE DJ three so much, and I go hear him every time he plays up here, but even at his album release party at cielo last week it was only filled half to capacity at the peak of the night (cielo is a small club btw).
So do I think for one second that all FL has to offer is Baby Anne (i believe thats the cheese reference of choice, i dont know her "stuff") or that NY has some big lead over FL as far as profile or notoriety go? Hell no... I don't give a shit about anyone's name or who their connections are when it comes down to it, I'm either gonna wanna hear more and dance or I'm just not going to be effected by it. When it comes to a good step for the board, and a great personally rewarding thing for you guys (Ska, Unome, and thrualoooop) I don't have anything but nice things to say. No hurt feelings, not in the least. It is our intention, as outrageous a thought it may be, to get others out in their respective areas and slap the mercury[b]sessions[/b] and/or mercury[b]server[/b] name on a night they throw in hopes of serving a reciprocating benefit. Not only will people then come to the site, see what we're about, etc. but those that are in your area (we do have over 5500 members now) who may not frequent the board as often as we losers do, will see the name on the flyer and it will trigger the memory of that 'place to get cool downloads' or 'that neat message board' or 'that awesome online radio station' and will bring them out to the show.

well in NYC, the big discussion board for EDM and very tight with local events is Rythymism. I love it for its information, but there is a handful of them who are always out and never do anything other than kiss DJ ass or try to and I've never actually seen them actually dance. So not so much competition,and they dont have music going for them, but lets think of good ways to package the great music "edge" we have going for us that will not only bring people in, but will stop/ditract/minimize them coming in with a leecher mindset. What will nip that "leecher-mindseed" in the bud from the get-go....?
