something you have been listening to recently that doesnt fall into the usual house/techno realm of things. can be electronic, but something abstract/downtempo/whatever. lets broaden our horizons.

Recommend something different?
Re: Recommend something different?
I've rarely put on the radio since I got into Kiss 100 and I have no idea what was new in the world of Rock / Alternative / Metal etc. but during my trip to India, I happened to watch a bit of MTV and just fell in love with US - What you leave behind. Came back states side, bought the disc and I now I just cant stop listening to that song..... love it
Re: Recommend something different?
is that the name of the cd? i havent heard of them
Re: Recommend something different?
sigur ros boards of canada four tet t. raumschmiere massive attack out hud the battles lusine lemon jelly einoma adam johnson

Re: Recommend something different?
Anything on the Mixtapes show on Proton.
Grandaddy M83 Boards of Canada Sigur Ros
Looks like Phil and I have a lot in common!
Re: Recommend something different?
^^^^you two should date then, lol
the only different thing I get to listen to is when my gf drives and we have to listen to Ani Difranco, lol.. but she LOVES house, so it isnt too bad to deal with every onw and again.

Nice one... M83 just reminded me to add Ulrich Schnauss, enjoyed seeing those two on tour earlier this year. There's so much great music outside of prog/tech-house... IMO it'd be a real boring day just listening to the same genre all day long, variety is key.
Great list thus far..
Mental Overdrive Jesse Somfay
a few other key additions.
Re: Recommend something different?
Just wait until you guys see next weeks' downloads. I've lined up something out of the ordinary as a special treat. I'm really excited to hear the feedback from it.
Re: Recommend something different?
if you like four tet, check out koushik. also - jackson & his computer band - smash
i saw t. raumschmiere on saturday with his live band setup - mental show, absolutely pure fist pumping rock-no. brilliant, altho i thought radio blackout is a stronger album than his new one.
boards of canada's new one = their best yet imo.
lemon jelly rules, altho again i didnt think much of their latest 64-95...
dapayk & padberg's new album is absolutely excellent, rivals isolee for electronic album of the year imo (anyone who has not heard isolee's album we are monster, which came out a few months ago, better recognize yo)
blackalicious just put a new one out. jamie lidells album multiply is great... metope's debut - kobol - is good. hm, will try to think of more.

Re: Recommend something different?
I really liked the new Gorrillaz album personally. Lots of really interesting tracks. I also really liked the new SOAD album, who I saw live last night and who blew me away. Can't wait for Part 2 of that which comes out in November.

i liked the soad with sugar on it, the one after was decent, i saw them right after that one (toxicity?) came out and it was a great show. cant stand the latest single tho...
Re: Recommend something different?
Don't judge the latest album by that single. Assuming your talking about BYOB, the rest of the album kicks ass. Its, by far, their best album to date. At least IMO. You might have to listen to it at least twice to feel that way, but you can tell they've matured A LOT as a band on this album. BYOB seems like its sole purpose was to try and be a "pop" track, whereas the rest of the album is way outside anything you can refer to as pop.
Trust me and check it out. Just skip BYOB and listen to the rest

Re: Recommend something different?
A great downtempo album with a reggae flair is Richard Dorfmeister presents A Different Drummer selection It is basically his dj mix of downtempo reggae tunes. Great stuff.
