#1932064Post 8 of 34

producing very limited editions of cd's isnt cheap these days. And its four cd's. so explains the price

#1932065Post 9 of 34

I was there both nights, so I bought it.

#1932066Post 10 of 34

Maybe a little bit costly...mostly cause of shipping to USA. But John Digweed live set at Twilo 25 years later...thats priceless

I did want to ask, especially to those who went to the party.... I understand that Wavespeech was played at some point in the night, yet it is not on the tracklisting.

Where in the set would it have been played? Was it maybe excluded due to licensing? Thanks8)

#1932147Post 15 of 34

Pre-ordered the CD. Was too late on the vinyl pack, which is a bummer.

TL looks great. Excited that he sprinkled in some classics!

#1932149Post 16 of 34

I am very excited for this... now do I wait for it to take a month to arrive or also buy the digital as well...?

#1932156Post 17 of 34

I wonder how old his boys are John's really putting on the greys.

#1932196Post 18 of 34

Gave it a listen on Tidal, Stereo is miles ahead better, maybe i'll appreciate it after a few listens.

#1932198Post 19 of 34

^^^ i have had to remind myself that he opens the night, so I would imagine there is a good bit of warming up. I have only been able to listen to the first two tracks so far.

I ended up buying the digital version too, mainly because it will take a while to actually arrive from the UK. Tomorrow I should be able to listen to it all.

#1932199Post 20 of 34

On the 3rd disc now and its pretty excellent. Defintiely a mix that is heavy on the House side of the spectrum...as Digweed tends to be.

The whole mix starts off mellow, again he does open the night but so far I would call it a masterclass in house music with a new york feel.

It actually reminds me of a bunker sessions set, which isnt bad.

Also I am glad he has stopped being so techno heavy in this decade.

#1932200Post 21 of 34

Part 3 is amazing. Lots of vocal house tracks that give me an early 90's feeling. Nice. I haven't listened to the other three discs yet. I hope they're as good.

#1932201Post 22 of 34

^^^agreed, love the old school feel in part 38)

Stopped at part 4, will listen to that today, then probably start it from the beginning and try to listen in full.

Update, almost done with part 4.... I like the mix, especially for what it is. Its John playing new york house, opening for Danny Tenaglia. John really does vary depending on the venue or city or crowd. In this case, he plays at pretty slow bpm, like Tenaglia does. This probably the most noticeable thing to me, especially on certain tracks I am used to hearing faster. I dont mind this because it is deliberate and I believe he was going for this very New York kind of thing. All in all however, I like it quite a bit. Now bring on NE Redux:RockOn:

Also, I am stii curious as to when he played Wavespeech, was it after Van Bellen or was it edited out somewhere in the middle? Guessing this is a licensing issue?

Wavespeech has been removed. Let Me Take You, was his last track, the vocal from Depeche Mode has also been removed.

#1932207Post 24 of 34

^ i wasnt sure if he removed the Depeche Mode vocal or if it was a version Lexicon Ave made without it. Well it was a bootleg and DM are also supposedly real pains in the ass about licensing tracks. No biggie, that track is on at least 3 live mixes I have of John's

#1932221Post 25 of 34

Still waiting for my physical copy to arrive so in the meantime I bought the digital pack.

In the digital pack there are many unmixed tracks missing.

Is that because he could not get them licensed to be sold as unmixed tracks?

#1932226Post 26 of 34

Got mine yesterday... very fast coming in this time compared to the last couple orders from Bedrock. i did buy the digital on Bandcamp already too.

#1932245Post 27 of 34

I listened to the 4 CDs, one after the other. Nice mix, full of house music. I was expecting some harder sounds by CD 4, but then I read here that he was opening for Tenaglia, and that gave another perspective. I loved CD 3, I agree with all of you.

#1932257Post 28 of 34

I think that Wavespeech was just after Get Reel

#1932263Post 29 of 34

^^ was wondering when it was played just out of curiousity.

After a couple listens, I love it. It sounds like circa 2000 or so. And not just that, its a great house set that makes me move and shake. Love that Yunus Twilo tribute track, so cool, set really peaks there.

The full vocal was the one that he played, I remember thinking, he needs to put that one to bed.

It could be, but I expect it to be on NE Redux

#1932328Post 33 of 34

^^ same here, I expect it will most likely be on the Redux album. Maybe thats why it was removed here.

#1932331Post 34 of 34

What I really like about this set is that besides the tracks I know for sure are old school, some of the newer ones sound old school as well. So its hard to tell if some tracks are old or new and thats why it works so well.
