I was at the Detroit Lions game yesterday in Detroit obviously and I was sitting in the Club seats (roughly $250US) and this girl next to me hated me and was harrassing me because I was canadian. I mean she went as far as to say she hated me. Honestly what was I doing so bad?? I was contributing to the U.S. economy buy paying my $250 US roughly $325CAN. Are we that bad even though we sent 3 Navy ships to New Orleans??

it works both ways -

whilst travelling in Vietnam we met an 'older' (maybe 50's) canadian who spouted off how much she hated Americans. She told that to my missus - to her face, having never met her before!! At least she had the balls to do it in person I guess.?!

It's funny you say that because most Americans I meet, I genuinely like. More often than not, their company is enjoyable. But as a whole, it's a seriously sideways and divisive culture; it's just as easy, if not easier, to make fun of I'd say when compared to us Canucks.

If I can generalize for a moment, Americans hate Canadians because we think we better than everyone else.

I'd have to say that Canadians are some of the nicest, easy-going people that I've ever met. I've been to Toronto several times and each time everyone has been really helpful and just out to have a good time.

funny. while they were all easy-going, friendly and personable toward me, the american, the crew i hung out with in vancouver did tell me that making fun of americans and the states in general was a regular activity. hell, it didn't seem personal at all. i do the same thing. jokes go around [insert three quarters of the south park movie here], and fortunately a lot of people let them stay just jokes. sounds like plenty of people don't do that, though. or they had a very bad childhood.

i think that might be going a little too far.. but i have met some weird ass canadians. and there are definitely some weird ass americans.. so whatever, we're all weird i guess!

Canadians are good people! I've gotten to know quite a few of them over my college years and they're probably some of the most fun people I've met. Down to earth as all hell. I need to get back up there soon for some good Tim Hortons breakfast! :shock:
