I'm currently reading 'Marketplace of Revolution' since I caught a quote from it that was used in a Newsweek article a few weeks ago. I'm only in the first chapter but it's shaping up to be pretty interesting. The subtitle is 'How Consumer Politics Shaped American Independance' and the author is making a case as to how the country, as spread out as it was and as socially diverse as it was, was able to band together and mobilize to spawn the American revolution.

Re: fao people that read books
lately i've been reading The Master and Margarita by Mihail Bulgakov , pretty good book, try it
Re: fao people that read books
I have been looking for a new author to admire for a long time, and have finally found him. If you like science fiction, try Robert Charles Wilson. I just discovered him this year and he is great. The Chronoliths, Spin, Bios and Blind Lake have all amazed me.
The last book I read was last month for work about Hedge Funds and their different strategies and mechanisms...boring as fuck. :?
Re: fao people that read books
TV Guide - it was awesome
Re: fao people that read books
Power Of Myth - Joseph Campbell w/ Bill Moyers Fast read and totally engrossing - even if you aren't all that interested in mythology this book will still keep your attention the whole way through.
Also anything by Carlos Castaneda is worth the read anyday.

The last book I read was The Secret Life of Salvador Dali by the man himself. The book is the ultimate in thought and surrealism. Salvador Dali covers everything from polymorphism to why he doesn't eat spinach, and he does it with a bang! And it`s one of the most funny books i read. I recommend u guys to read it.

I have been reading a hell of a lot of John Steinbeck this year - just finished 'The Pearl' by him and it was up to his usual high standard.
Starting 'The Rum Diary' by Hunter S Thompon tonight, heard good things about this author.

Re: fao people that read books
watching the english by kate fox .. a must read for anyone visiting my fair country...it gives u an insight into the unwritten rituals and rules of english society
Re: fao people that read books
i'll add that for anyone who hasn't read it - catch-22 is an absolutely brilliant book. a must-read if ever i've read one.
Re: fao people that read books
Paul Auster is the best living American novelist that I have read and his last two books, The Book of Illusions and Oracle Night are his best works.
Haruki Murakami writes some of the most mind bending fiction I've ever read and I HIGHLY recomend him. Everything I've read by him is amazing but
Kafka on the Shore, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, and Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World are some of his best.

peloquin - i thought catch 22 was garbage - just rambled on and on, no story, was funny for a while but then the whole drawn out anecdotes kind of bored me after about page 200
