Send your music to Steve Lawler to get comprehensive feedback and production advice, covering composition, sound design and mixdown. After purchase £30
This is nothing new in the business, loads of people do that

Thing about this type of advice though is that a guy like that is always going to nit pick something he doesn't like about the tune lol

Re: Steve Trawler

Steve hasn't been able to find good music to play in his sets for over a decade.

Re: Steve Trawler

Now I’m gonna listen to the first dark drums.

Re: Steve Trawler

Hmmm nope didn’t age well, I forgot he always drops these moaning vocal tracks that kill the vibe

Re: Steve Trawler

^ its scarey how much stuff doesnt age well.

Nostaglia aside, there are few standout CD's that i go back to regularily.

The other day i tried to take GU:008 out for a spin - just too boomy and fast for an old fuddy duddy like me. Others just stand the test of time no matter what.

Re: Steve Trawler

^^^ Who do you go back too ??

Steve Lawler was such a disappointment to me . I was definitely into the drums CDS, might have been for Treaty, and the first Lights Out:) Saw him in London at The End in 2003 . He was pretty ordinary even then. Saw him 2010 in Melbourne and he was just awful. :((

Re: Steve Trawler

He was great between 98/02, but that sound disappeared. There were a few great sets out there after that, but not that many. That documentary that he made said it all. He was doing the big paying gigs, because he was more interested in the money.

Which documentary? Youtube?

I actually still like that one. Maybe, because I didn't buy it until 2003, but I like all of the tracks on it. For me 98/99 were the best years for trance.

Just like footballers migrating to China or whatever minor league but with stratospheric salaries..

Cant blame them though.

i agree and i loved (still do) the tracks on it. But just can't find the setting to listen to it! I'm no longer bouncing off walls in darkened rooms!

Re: Steve Trawler

Well for me Steve Lawler's sound was always GROOVY no matter if he played tribal, electro, tech house, minimal or even techno..in the more recent years he made a full cycle and now plays more garage or jackin type of house sounds mixed with tech house and occasionally some percussions and drums lol The main thing is his sound is still GROOVY! And let me tell you - Lawler definitely knows how to rock a party as you can hear in this set:

Re: Steve Trawler
Edit, Steve wants £2 for the stream too.
Seems a lot of the music sites are pushing really hard at the moment to get you to pay. I can't see what the people I follow are doing anymore on Soudcloud all I can see is who I have reposted. Hardly in the spirit of "we are all in this together "

Mixcloud are being shits, but what's new

Re: Steve Trawler

TBF. Steve, was doing it to raise money for charity. I would have probably paid if it was 20 years ago. This whole live stream thing has become ridiculous now. Yesterday you had, Dave Seaman, Steve Lawler, 338 and UpYerRonson, all on at the same time. It wouldn't be that bad, but the streams break at least once in every set. You then have to hunt down a new link.

Re: Steve Trawler

I have to agree, Steve's Nubreed and Lights Out 1 were damn good tribal house mixes but, like Sander K, he kinda went a different direction that I just couldn't get into. I have his VIVA mixes, and I don't like any of them. In fact i was considering the rare move of giving them away to my friend who may find some enjoyment in them. Sad to say but they just weren't very good to me at release and wouldnt be now either.
