I think ever since The Idiots Are Winning, he's gone off on a different track, none of that trippy melodic progressive sounds. He sounds more glitch/IDM as clintlove said, and the sets I sometimes hear now are just kinda flat and doesn't keep my attention.

I remember watching his RBMA lecture which can be found on youtube RBMA channel where he said what will happen with his career in future. He basically said that he does not want to find himself djing to crowd half his age.. That lecture was recorded in 2010.. :)

It was all over after Nathan Fake and Orthouse. It was just ropey Techno. Holden had is own unique style in 2000+.

My memory of him is at Rod Laver Arena and Luke Chable's mother telling me Luke wrote that track .:)I can't remember what the track was :)

i heard him say in some interview that we has done with sound that has a beat and is forcing you to dance...his newer stuff is pretty good but for a whole different setting...definitely had some great times with the holden

^ Everything about this video is magical. That's the James Holden I remember.

I was fortune enough to catch him playing an amazing live set at Output Brooklyn back in 2014. I wish he still produced like he did in '00-'10, just can't get behind his change in direction the last 9-10 years. Maybe if we go on his social media and start asking him to bring back his old style he might entertain us but I doubt it.

He's always been a production prodigy and seems to style himself as an artist; so I suppose kudos to him for growing and striking his own path but tough luck for us!

All the more to be thankful we still have Digweed!

Him and his music used to be described as "pixie-ish"; it's sounding like he had too much fairy dust :lol:

What I find truly sad is, listening to those videos above, I can hardly hear his contribution to the performances. He's relegated himself to supporting in the background, when his music used to take center stage and it deserved all the limelight because it was so beautiful.
