Anyone else feel like me that you've got to have a mix on your hard drive or it doesn't count. All the SoundCloud mixes with the Download button disabled :MadNow:

Download or on-line
Re: Download or on-line
With all its history it's a miracle that SC still exists.

Re: Download or on-line
At one point i had two 3TB hard drives completely stuffed full of sets, I deleted them all, I released that i would never get through them so it was pointless to have them, Now i only have a select few downloads and the rest are basically bookmarks of soundcloud links ( still hate mixcloud )
Re: Download or on-line
Why did you delete them? To Make room for pron?
Re: Download or on-line
I download, but only albums. And buy the CDs if I like them.
Why did you delete them? To Make room for pron?
i needed the room for pictures of your misses
Re: Download or on-line
Collecting is a great passion of mine, disk space is an issue though.
Re: Download or on-line
Collecting is a great passion of mine, disk space is an issue though.
i was hoarding rather than collecting though, especially when i got cable, if i liked a single mix from a dj who had a podcast for example i would make sure i would get as much stuff as i could from that dj and then be stuck in a vicious circle of finding new mixes and doing the same with different djs, it was pointless
so easy with a fast connection, glad i did delete them now because now i have an even faster internet connection
Re: Download or on-line
I agree that broadband makes hoarding pointless. But some things are worth keeping, for instance: all Essential Mixes, Transitions, Jody's sets or Chunky's tape rips.
Re: Download or on-line
@ the OP,
So with you on this. If I like a set I want to be able to carry it with me in good quality. !! I tend not to bother listening if it doesn't have download enabled .
Re: Download or on-line
With all its history it's a miracle that SC still exists.
But just quietly who gives a shit anyway?? Soundcloud is so far away from what I signed up for.
Re: Download or on-line
i download to play on my phone, either at work or through my car. my car does not have wifi so i prefer to play off my device than use data. also sound quality can be better on downloaded sets.
Re: Download or on-line
I use soundcloud and mixcloud every day.... don't most members? having said that, i fully get why you'd want to have them downloaded and have better quality.

Thats true.. Disk space and time to listen.. There is so much good music and artists constantly appearing that either you have lack of time to listen all the music out there or disk space to collect it.
I´ve gave up collecting and go full streaming a few years back now, can´t say i regret tbh.. Even those absolutely all time fav mixes i have somewhere, simply dont have the time to re-listen again and if i have the time, most of them can find online (comps or whatever)
Collecting was an amazing passion thats for sure.
Re: Download or on-line
^^ I listen to stuff from years ago nearly every day. :) Even stuff prior to dance music.
They only thing I could say I collect is Hernan's Radio show. Otherwise I just keep what I like and will replay. :)
Re: Download or on-line
That's the point D., there are things that are worth keeping. Collectors are not the most rational people though.

i would love to do that as well but i just can't find the time of at the same time trying to listen the overwhelming new (and good) music that constantly appear.. and it´s safe to say that i listen minimum 5 or 6 hours of music on a daily basis

I consider myself lucky to be able to listen to music anytime day or night. :) Self employed. :)
Re: Download or on-line
I download stuff, listen to it once at work and then in the car and keep what I like, delete what I don't. Trouble is I don't get enough time to listen to what I download (despite being a software developer and sitting at work with my headphones on most of the day) so I end up months behind.
Re: Download or on-line
I download and keep pretty much everything (even though some of it will never be listened to again). I tend to get to listen to everything as I do a bit of running, so 24 hours a week is sorted straight way. I keep it so I can add it to my iPhone every week, so I like to mix old with new. If I don't keep it and there's something I want to listen to I have to go hunting for it, which is a pain in the arse. Though these days you can find much old stuff on soukseek. Does anyone remember the old days of soulseek?
