Ripping my CDs to MP3. The CDs have more tracks than the digital version I think. Wonder why?
Any chance you could post the cue files or timings, I always like to use them with the continuous mixes in the digital bundle.

Re: John Digweed's new Live In: Output

I've been to two of his NYE parties and they are always a bit.. i dunno.. lacking flow in a way, only because he sets the standard so high in general.

Still, technically brilliant.. ccan't wait to hear it

Afraid I don't have the digital version. Just the CDs. Maybe you could work it out from this. https://www.discogs.com/search/?q=digweed+last+night+output&type=all

Re: John Digweed's new Live In: Output

The digital mixes and the CDs match up this time. I managed to find 4, 5 and 6 on the freedb website, so hopefully the rest will go up soon.

Also I really enjoyed the second, third and fourth discs, but five really lost me. Hoping that six finishes things off strongly.

Re: John Digweed's new Live In: Output

i enjoyed the whole thing, it really ebbs and flows. some real wtf moments in here. most surprising thing for me was how much groove there is in the tunes and mixing. some of the best parts for me are the subtle subtle stuff in the mixes. i would love to hear the rest of the set, but not holding my breath

re: tracklisting, i think at least montreal finale had a track or two that were cleared for the CD release but not the digital one. there's also a mix of onspec - knights of columbus on the other nyc set that isn't in the tracklists anywhere i think http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/showthread.php?175974-John-Digweed-Live-In-Brooklyn-Missing-Track-ID-from-Disc-5!

Re: John Digweed's new Live In: Output

Well the cue files I found for discs 4, 5 and 6 match perfectly with the continuous mixes I bought from Beatport.

I think the labels are ok with the songs being in the continuous mixes, but not being released as singles.

If anyone with discs could PM me the timings for 1-3 I'd be very grateful.

Re: John Digweed's new Live In: Output

From Digweeds FB page

I think there might still be some confusion with the formats for the Last Night At Output release Physical CD is 6 x CD’s which has the full mix of 6.35 hours from the night, this is not the whole 10 hours as there were too many tracks we could not license in the last few hours Beatport Same full 6 x mixes as cd plus 60 full tracks to download for just over £13 which is an absolute bargain given how much music you end up with. iTunes They no longer allow dj mixes, no idea why but not possible to buy on I tunes now so you only have the tracks here that are legally licensed to be used Spotify This is where it gets complicated, quiet a few labels don’t grant streaming rights to the tracks we licensed for the CD, at this point we have two choices, don’t stream the album at all or spend ages digitally editing out the tracks and trying to make the cd flow as nicely as possible given the missing tracks from the mix. Now if that isn’t hard enough. If we uploaded the continuous mix as one file and there is 6 files for the album. Spotify class one file as one track whether it’s one artist on there or 9, so in order to at least get the artist and the label properly and appropriately paid, we have to upload each track individually which is a pain for us and you. So if you really want to hear this mix in full download from beatport and dump it in your player. Apple Music This unfortunately is the same as above I wanted to explain this as clearly as possible so you make the right decision on how you want to hear it and to highlight how difficult it is becoming with these types of release. Please feel free to share this information. So far the feedback has been incredible and I am touched by so many lovely comments. John Digweed

Re: John Digweed's new Live In: Output

kind of weird that he put 6 cd's in the package when it only has 6.35 hours of music.

6 discs x 80 min a disk is 480 minutes which equates to 8 hours of music

they could have easily fit on 5 disks???

logically yes, but it may have to do with which tracks he could not license. Some of the CD's do not flow into the next (2 into 3 for example) so leads me to believe there is a gap there.. 1 track or 5 tracks? we do not know.

Re: John Digweed's new Live In: Output

Personally I think this is the worst Live in he has released (besides Slovenia).

Tracks really didn't pull me in at tall, no standouts, no feeling.....just kind of rough/harsh track after track.
Do not like this one at all. Wish I would not have bought it.

Totally agree with you. Just fine tracks (not all), and i understand the main concept, but this mix is boring. The "Live in Tokyo" or Montreal is much-much better than this. For me of course...

Montreal is the best in the series for me, London 2nd.

Re: John Digweed's new Live In: Output

I guess that set would work far better if you were there but not as a live compilation. Still much appreciated for Diggers that he still releases them.

This one stand out for me.

Re: John Digweed's new Live In: Output

Not a compilation I will return to that often if I'm honest, there were only about 7 tracks across the 6 discs that I thought were any good, and two of them are over 20 years old each!

I really disliked Toyko too so that's 11 discs in a row that I thought were quite pedestrian. Strange really as Montreal, London, Brooklyn, Cordoba and Argentina were all really solid compilations

Tokyo is definitely one of his best comps and even Live in NYC may be better than this most recent Last Night at Output!

Re: John Digweed's new Live In: Output

when i can get into it, i love this mix, but when it's commute/office music i don't really like it.

the point about the music working better in a club is spot on, his music really needs to be overwhelming for it to make sense to me.

I'm not slagging Digweed, the set that he did last year at CRSSD was brilliant, I've played that quite a few times. I just haven't heard a Live In that I have wanted to listen to a second time.

Re: John Digweed's new Live In: Output

honestly i didnt like it at first = but its kind of growing on me when played on a decent set of speakers.

i like it more than tokyo but less than montreal. to me - although i understand this set was somewhat nostalgic - the banging techno digweed isn't as special as the one we saw at montreal. with john - techno is something that i believe he should use like salt and pepper. he is absolutely mind-blowing when he is in that vein - but tokyo felt uninspired - and just kind of not my cup of tea.

whilst i respect him a huge amount - john digweed is one of the greatest people ever musically in my opinion - he seems to swing to these tangents where it seems he really doesnt do it for me. whenever i see him going into those times (like his minimal phase) i just kind of lose interest and listen to other DJ's - but one thing about digweed is he loves a comeback.

personally i cant wait to see what he does next. its going to be either ok or completely off the hook - and thats what i hold out for.

this mix is a step back in the right direction for me - but its not disc 3 onwards of montreal good.

oh and hai everyone :)
