Re: top 100 dj

theres no criteria. notice everyone who replied with a list named dj's with similar or exactly the same styles, in the same genre. not one person showed any versatility or variety in there responses. THAT's why this poll is utter shit, everyone just acknowledges the dj's in the genre they like at the moment and forgets about all the rest. most people that vote haven't even seen enough dj's to make an accurate assumption. to the people who posted previously, how many of you have seen richie hawtin, or danny tenaglia or someone in that regard. weather you enjoy the music or not, putting people like nick warren or SANDRA COLLINS, etc in front of these people is ignorance at it's finest. that's why this poll is nothing but a popularity contest. nobody approaches it with a truely objective point of view and the results reflect the short sightedness and lack of intelligent from those who participate.

Re: top 100 dj

Yeah, fuck criteria, the only criteria is my own tastes, so here?s my current top 3 :

 • Sasha
 • Luke Fair
 • Chris Fortier

Re: top 100 dj

1 - Digweed 2 - Moshic 3 - Sasha 4 - James Zabiela 5 - CP

I base this upon, if all were playing at the same, who I would go see first....

maybe MS should have their own Top 10 poll, to see how much it differs from the Top100...

Re: top 100 dj

i'd actually be semi interested to see the results of a MS top 10 list, how ever i'd prefer it to be split up into genres as i think it'd be a more accurate asessment.

I have seen Tenaglia many times and Warren as well. I have also seen Burridge, Lawler, Howells, Three, Jimmy van M, and many others.

I take exception to you saying that my (or anybody else's choices for that matter) are due to the lack of breadth of knowledge and experience. Ironically, you are accusing people of making assumptions about DJ's, yet are making assumptions about their tastes.

well look at it from my point of view. everyone that has posted a list on this thread, has named 5 djs of almost IDENTICAL style. luke fair desyn sasha digweed....on the same list? i'm not saying anything bad about the djs themselves, it's that everyones list is the exact same on this board. theres been no variety, nobody who likes prog would mention a tech house dj, or a deep house dj, or even a hard techno dj. regardless of there overall talent. a lot of people on this board live in smaller cities that the real top jocks never visit. you have to live in one of like 5 places to see a hawtin or tenaglia, so if you've never seen people who changed the face of the scene forever, hwo do you put a nick warren ahead of that? oh well he did do a GU with that melodic prog that nobody has ever heard before. oh wait, that shits on its way out.

i'm sure people who have posted lists of almost identical styles, are the same guys who would laugh at the tranceaddicts for voting tiesto avb pvd 1, 2, and 3. it's not ANY different. again, thats why the list is worthless. people put personal musical preference over the fact that someone else may be more talented. oh i like nick warrens bspf so i'll put him ahead of someone who's completly revolutionized djing for the past 2 decades.

Re: top 100 dj
oh i like nick warrens bspf so i'll put him ahead of someone who's completly revolutionized djing for the past 2 decades.
I agree with you completely on what you're saying, but to be fair to everyone here is how the DJMag site reads:

"Rank the DJs who've impressed you the most over the last year"

So since most of us aren't inherently rich and able to travel the world-over to form an accurate assessment of every DJ in the world, we have to include compilations, sets we've downloaded, and our own musical preference(s) in our choices. Ergo the reason that this thing is full of shit. I don't think that any of us would debate that, but the truth is that some people really enjoy compiling lists and rankings so let's let them have their fun.

Re: top 100 dj

here we go.. every year same arguments, lol.

why dont we just repost thread from the last contest, and be done with it :)

#463101Post 52 of 73

Re: top 100 dj

i hear you ska. when someone comes on listing 5 almost identical djs, you've got to wonder is it the dj himself, or is it the music he played. because in that case, it should be the producers getting the credit instead.

i guess its the fact that the list has potential for being fun and exciting. but this actually affects dj's salaries and the gigs they can get. thats why i almost take offense when people come on and mindlessly list dj's that have been in there ipod for the last week and a half, while other djs who may be more deserving, don't get the recognition or even perhaps the monitary compensation they deserve. but evidently i just see this 'contest' in an entirely different light then most people. :|

Exactamundo.

That was why chose that top 3.

If we?re talking about all tyme faves, only Sasha would make my top 5...but where was Moshic this year, for example? Oscar Mulero is a top Spanish techno DJ who I love, but he doesn?t play much outside Spain, so I wouldn?t say he?s had a huge impact this year either...

And is this a DJ or Producer poll? If we were talking about producers, I?d stick Alter Ego, Tiefschwarz or Mylo in there instead, probably, but for example, Mylo himself says his own DJ skills are "erratic at best"...

This isn?t exactly a presidential election, so I say again, my criteria were my current tastes, as in "2004/2005"

Little Green Men Little Green Men is the aias Chris Scott and Scott Bradford use to record their tuffer tribal edged sound, usually incorporating vocalists.

Chris also, fronts the hugely popular Echomen & Mooncat projects with Anton Fielding, and have released some killer EPs on the Hooj and The End labels.
