Yeah, he mentioned something about the cancer on the air. I believe he had stopped smoking for years and started again after Sept. 11th. Either ways.... sad news.

Re: RIP Peter Jennings

I've watched him on the news since I can remember. It was a shock to hear he had cancer a few months back and they just announced a few hours ago he died. Last I heard he was getting treatment but they didn't say how bad it was.

last time I saw him was when his Ecstasy Rising report aired 1-2 years ago.

Hindsight is always 20/20 but there was an air of uncertainty in his voice when he made the announcement. It was as if he knew that he only had a short time left. I believe that was the reason why he slipped under the radar and didn't grant very many interviews, etc. He wanted to live out the rest of his life in peace and with his family.

Re: RIP Peter Jennings

i appreachiated that report on extasy as it was so refreshing to see someone of his stature provide an unbiased factual report on a very controversial topic. Sorry to hear the news :(

Really sad. Watched a special on him last night. Seemed like a really great person- more than just a reporter.
