Re: visiting ms and getting security messages popping up

This is the first time I'm seeing this. Can you post some screen shots?

#1778135Post 3 of 113

Re: visiting ms and getting security messages popping up

looks like someone might be using the site to mine coins, i'll be damned if i'm letting my browser mine coins

Re: visiting ms and getting security messages popping up

i don't get the warning, but my ad blocker is blocked some script from coin-have. site probably got hacked and some cunts are mining bitcoins while you download tunes

this is in the ms page for some reason

and looks like trouble. install uBlock origin for your browser?

could install ublock but thats not the point, there are less tech savvy people than us on the internet....this is no disrespect to the admin or coders here but this place has been lacking in the very basic security for a long time and it's an easy target for those that are less that scrupulously minded, where is even the basic secure sockets layer ? i did mention that to kamal before, basically everyone's password is easy game here, including admin, honestly...this place isn't safe no more

and yes... it's probably been hacked again and it'll continue to be hacked until someone does something about it... but then again i won't hold my breath for that to happen anytime soon

it's a real shame

Re: visiting ms and getting security messages popping up

Thanks for the heads up thebanned1 I thought something was strange when the fans on my AIO cooler kept spinning up to noticeable sound levels. So I checked my Task Manager and sure enough Chrome was utilizing abnormally large amounts of CPU load (hence the hotter temps). Thanks also tiddles, after installing uBlock origin things are back to normal. Also found some more useful software here: https://fossbytes.com/block-cryptocurrency-mining-in-browser/

Re: visiting ms and getting security messages popping up

Thanks - that helped a ton. I found a few instances of it, not sure how it got injected into the header but I have deleted it now. Let me know if the problem persists.

Re: visiting ms and getting security messages popping up

chuckc I don't mean to offend you but you're not helping! There's clearly something going on as DIDI pointed out, there's a noticeable increase in CPU load when running [ms] scripts without some form of Ad Blocker installed. Perhaps if you check your Task Manager you might find otherwise.

btw Kamal, i know you're a busy dude but this might be an easy way to get https running here Certbot
https
this needs to happen, how long is it going to be before it's something more sinister, personally i don't think it's wise downloading anything around these parts unless it's from someone you know/trust which inevitably is the death of the site..final nail in the coffin.

#1778221Post 27 of 113

Re: visiting ms and getting security messages popping up

Same problems here. When I browse mercuryserver, the CPU usage goes up to 50%. And I have an ad blocker !

#1778222Post 28 of 113

Re: visiting ms and getting security messages popping up

When I have Disconnect working CPU is fine, as soon as I switch it off it goes through the roof . Nice too know Disconnect is working for me. :)

My normal ad blocker doesn't work on the MS cpu surge. The free version of disconnect does work. You don't need premium.

Re: visiting ms and getting security messages popping up

Interesting, I haven't seen any problems at all. But I'm using Firefox with ublock origin and most shit disabled.

How the code is injected seems more pertinent.
