I was so disappointed in him in Melbourne a couple of months ago :(

Re: Global underground nubreed #10: Oliver schories

When them first 5 (maybe 6) Nubreeds where released, them DJ's really were the Nubreed. They all went on to be global mega stars for a period of time. All those who did the later ones never achieved anywhere near the same success.

Re: Global underground nubreed #10: Oliver schories

I'd give it a listen, but I agree that the first 6 in the series are the strongest and merit re-listens. The other ones aren't really all that memorable. GU was in a real rut at that time with the Plump DJ's release, Felix the Housecat's GU entry and a lot of other attempts to change with the audience of the music, that was moving away from their usual house/trance and progressive sound.

The Sultan entry hasn't aged very well at all after I gave it a listen a few months back.

The new breed of DJ's that were up and coming (next generation). Howells, Burridge, Klienenberg, Lawler were all at that tipping point in 2000/2001. Could I imagine Schories pulling a big crowd at a ledgendary club? No!

Tomiie and Pappa probably peaked at their Nubreeds the other 4 went on to be bigger.

  • agree but his recent stuff (2016 - 2017) is really average, being generous.

  • Eelke, imo he deserves it.

Re: Global underground nubreed #10: Oliver schories

Satoshi's nubreed got me into the darkness (and luke fair). The opening stephan k track, fuck.

Re: Global underground nubreed #10: Oliver schories

^^ Satoshi was my first night of clubbing and Nubreed my first dance cd. Still play it. :) I will never forgot the way I felt when I walked into that room when Satoshi was playing. :) He changed his sryle over the years and although he was always a great Dj he was playing music I didn't like so much.

I always like to think I keep an interest in the music and try to keep an eye out on up and coming DJ's, new names on the scene etc - but I have never heard of Oliver Schories?? Guess I'm not as into it as I thought I was!
