Re: digweed's kiss mix july 17th

I agree that it's a great set but...

a) What's with the gap in the middle? was there a commercial?

b) Why on earth would Diggers end with 'I'll Kill You' when Terry Grant was the guest? Seems a bit strange to me, plus he played it last week too.

#451664Post 5 of 36

could be a commerical usually he doesn't cut it out......but he didn't end with the terry grant track he ended with forge

and last week he played the luke chable mix of i'll kill you and this week was the john debo mix.....he's just representing since its on the bedrock label

Re: digweed's kiss mix july 17th

Right now, our Ripmaster General aka Chemicalbeavis is not in town so I have to look for different sources to get the Kiss shows. Normally I get the full show from Chem so I can cut the commercial with Soundforge out and mix the parts together again in a way that it?s hardly recognizable. In the recordings I downloaded this week, the commercials have already been cut out and fade in/out have been added, so I couldn't do anything about it. I agree though, it?s a damn good mix from Mr. Digweed this week. :)

^^^hey i could care less you guys get an A+ for hooking up the sets everyweek... the track after the break rocks

Re: digweed's kiss mix july 17th

glad to hear diggers is back with the goods, I was amazed the other day when I realized that I currently have NO Digweed mixes in rotation on my MP3 player. There was a time when I had at least 5 sets of his on there. I'll have to load this one up and take a ride.

Re: digweed's kiss mix july 17th

if i help every once in a while with the tracklistings don't i get extra credit to be able to dld ? :D

#451705Post 12 of 36

If you help with tracklistings and raise your post count through posting your ID`s, you will be able to download from here in no time. Only 2 postings in one year are not enough to be able to download, sorry.

Re: digweed's kiss mix july 17th

yeah same here...ELECTRO MUST DIE!!...seems like the majority of people agree that digweed is not nearly as good as he was a few years back. not sure why he is stuck on the electro tip. Now whenever i listen to digweed i always bust out something from 2001-03. It still sounds great and a hell of alot bedder than waht he plays now..

I have yet to hear this July 17th set...Hope its good...will review later...

Re: digweed's kiss mix july 17th

I for one am not too keen on this electro stuff either. But I must say there are some electro style tunes he's played that I do love.

One that I just can't seem to stop playing is DJ Vince - Superworld (DJ T dub). As played on his Tokyo Diesel party. This track is freakin awsome! Reminds me of the Disco freestyle days....in a way.

Picked it up about 2 weeks ago.

And there are others but I definitley prefer the good ol' dark house prog sets he bagged in the early 2000's.

It's just that producers and or remixers are going a different route perhaps? Not sure where all the good artists of back then have gone. Im sure some are still around.

Re: digweed's kiss mix july 17th

Well I think it was said before, they (admins) discountinued letting people know what the exact amount is, as it creates lots of spam just to get to the number so they can download.

#451765Post 20 of 36

Re: digweed's kiss mix july 17th

spamming is just lame ... i'll stick to the nonsense thread any time any day

Spam = no good , Nonsense Thread = :D :D :D :D :D :D

#451941Post 22 of 36

Re: digweed's kiss mix july 17th

I can't really speak for the electro stuff as I think it's garbage. But in terms of the trend towards tech-house, it's a funny little genre - when it works, it really works and really messes with your head, when it doesn't it's complete garbage.

More often than not I find it doesnt work, but damn I love it when it does!

#451946Post 23 of 36

Re: digweed's kiss mix july 17th

I'm only about 25 minutes into the set. But maybe it's just my driving while listening to it, but I'm only kinda getting into it.

#451952Post 24 of 36

Re: digweed's kiss mix july 17th

second half's better jeff.

i was going through some of last year's sets earlier today, and they were pretty damn good. i don't think the electro really started deteriorating the sets until about december of 04. I think he's headed back in the right direction though, according to the last two weeks.

#451953Post 25 of 36

Re: digweed's kiss mix july 17th

oh, and i still think it's disrespectful to play Grant's tune right before his guest slot, but that's just me.

#451993Post 26 of 36

^ Oh well what can you. Diggers can pretty much do whatever the hell he wants. Its his show. But yes this weeks mix is good. A little shorter then usual though.

#451994Post 27 of 36

Re: digweed's kiss mix july 17th

This is definitely a better set that his previous ones...

it's no Martin Garcia though...

#452006Post 28 of 36

Re: digweed's kiss mix july 17th

I dont think its disrespectful to play a tune by the guest right before the actual guest comes on. I think it's more of an honor for Digweed to do that.

and he's done it many times before as well. He's also gone the other way, where a guest mix plays a couple of his/her own productions and Digweed plays that exact tune the following week.

imo.

Re: digweed's kiss mix july 17th

sorry guys...didnt like this one all that much...first half was not that good...second half was bedder....

Like the song right after the break and the last song the best....the rest was ok. still not even close to a total quality outstanding set.

#452599Post 30 of 36

Re: digweed's kiss mix july 17th

I thought it was quality, not all time great, but very listenable; especially compared with the shows that lead to me not bothering with these anymore unless otherwise noted :D That said, thanks again for the heads up! :Bingo:

Re: digweed's kiss mix july 17th

I agree w/ what's mentioned in this thread. Hopefully Diggers rides on this train b/c i'm diggin it.

For a moment i thought that i was just so "progged out" that my eccentricities shifted my audio sensories to liking diggers' lame sets of recent years.

However i listened to 'er for the second time and i was like "shit man, diggers really pulled through on this one!"

In all fairness to the man you have to experiement and really listen to what "tickles your pickle" so to speak to really be passionate about what you are trying to do in the industry that you've chosen a career out of. But as the ol' adage goes "if something works, don't fix it". That being his mind blowing sets of yester-year.

Sorry i'm hungover and in rant mode. Don't mean to take out the stick to stir up any shite on this post!!!!

Re: digweed's kiss mix july 17th

I thought this mix was amazing, one of digger's best this year so far The terry grant tune is stunning!

#452790Post 33 of 36

Re: digweed's kiss mix july 17th

You pretty much hit the nail on the head.

The last like.. oh 4 or 5 shows have been really good in my opinion.

One thing I fail to remember is that although Digs has a bottomless record box, what he can play really depends on what is out there and fresh right now. He sometimes throws on some older stuff, but those are typically on the one or two "classics" (or themed) shows he's done.

As for these latest mixes, it would appear that the quality of the material that is out there at the moment must be increasing. There was sort of a lull there for a while.

Whatever has hit the water or air on the various producers and DJs... I hope it keeps up too. The depth of the mixes in terms of track selection and overall vibe has been awesome. I've been into all of them as of late.

The electro stuff doesn't bother me too much, although when he's dropped some of those niiiice darker prog tracks lately I come back to remembering - oh yeah, that's what I love.

And everyone's right - that Garcia mix is top notch. But, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Stel set as well? I really dug it. Some nice stuff coming out of Greece on that one too.

n-e-way. Let's enjoy the ride and hopefully some great stuff will be coming down the airwaves in the months to come...

Been travelling a lot lately, IMO Digweed is playing what's on air right now but come on, stop the Electro thing :x...and where does it bring you? I'm not against new sounds tho but prob Garcia's set has shown to Digweed that deep dark prog is still da best

Re: digweed's kiss mix july 17th

anyone know the 3rd to last track? it's unlisted in the tracklisting section and Mr. Diggers mentions it as "Katayo" or something along those lines but I can't find anything on it...
