Re: Fabric Closing

What's stopping them from reopening under different "owner" and name?

And ... does this mean the fabric compilations are no more? :(

If they are allowed to, that´s what gonna happen soon or at least it's the most reasonable thing to happen.. I imagine they would probably have some sort of complications to get permissions and a few more etceteras though

Fabroc coming soon
Yeah. The door and the cloakroom are on ground level. All of the bars, toilets and dance floors are underground.
True. Here's a idea, eliminate the current 'storefront' entrance & create a new in which Fabric just utilizes the areas that are beneath the surface. Let these greedy developers build all they want on top of the venue. Win-win!

"Might" means he probably won't, so it's just talk.

Not sure why he accepted it in the first place?

Re:

My 'soap box'...

This makes me ill. The entire reason for our musical movement is for freedom & unity for everyone. Regardless of money, power, religion, sexuality or any boundaries, whatsoever. Now, all of that is being threatened by a multi-million dollar building project that is going to tear down the very FABRIC of everything that we, & all of us, have worked so hard to build for all of our very lives.

It's hard to believe there are no drugs in Fabric. Maybe the security measures are in place but if they did it to every single person in the club throughout the whole night the dance floor would grind to a halt.

A train ride away ...

RA News: German court deems Berghain 'cultural' space along with theatres and museums
Berghain is now placed in the tax class of theatres, concerts and museums. The club commissioned music and cultural writer Tobias Rapp, author of the book Lost And Sound, to write a report in support of its case, which argued that the majority of the people who attend Berghain do so for the music—just like at traditional concerts.

The 2009 reversal came after field research from tax authorities showed that events at clubs such as Berghain and Watergate are social events in which most people are not facing the DJ and many attendees are unaware of who is playing.

It would be useful if they give specific details on how much money they need and for what? Maybe there is more information and did not do any research but those lines sounds very romantic with no content on what kind of battle they are facing?

If it´s money to get their licence back and they think they will win like the other time they took police on in court, there are a few commercial financial options they could do in order to raise the money they need.. Surely those who might participate on something like this will do it for bussines..

Asking for money with #savefabric #savenightlife sounds not only naive but a message of someone desperate that don´t have a plan... Only knows they need money and they are not planning returning that money back... kinda weak strategy imo.

Not to push forward a crass attitude. However, if you have ever retained legal services...the fees add up on the quick tip.

makes sense.. Maybe is not the best timing.

I don´t know.. "Donate to our campaign to #saveourculture today. It could be your last chance".. This strong message needs more planification than donations imo but yeah, maybe not going public so soon.

Big Djs could do more too.. i mean, couple of free gigs or something.

Not many big name DJ's have coughed up. Bedrock donated £500 which is probably what Digweed gets paid to play there for half an hour.

^^ I wish more people subscribed to the DIDI code. It would save a lot of unnecessary, uncomfortable pregnant pauses in social situations before you have to go "ah, don't take this personally but I'd rather not."

lol would normally agree with that code.. but considering they are talking about "saving the culture today, it could be your last chance" it looks like a doctor watching someone dying on the street and not helping him for free

Anyway.. they definitely are not obligated to do anything at all.. It would be just a favour considering what Fabric did for them (if thats the case)..
