asians and dancing

do you know a phenomena called "the asian circle"? basically, asians will flock to clubs and form this circle on the dance floor. and they all look at each other while dancing to some top 40 stuff. but there's no one dancing IN the circle save an occasional drunk white boy or some black guy that could dance up a storm. soon, the asians will try to playfully push each other into the circle while the one being pushed in desperately tries to get back to the rim. what's even more interesting is if there are more than one cirlce on the floor and some members from each circle know each other. eventually, you see the smaller circles open up and unite to form this one gigantic circle. of course, there's still no one IN the circle.

i see this and i laugh. and i'm guilty of participating sometimes myself.

and yes, i'm an asian.

In NY that rarely happens at the dance oriented clubs but at asian clubs it happens pretty often. Seems pretty crap to me and yes I am asian.

:lol: :lol: :lol: I've never seen this happen here...but I haven't seen that many groups of asians in the clubs that I go to either...maybe I should be at the top 40 clubs, but I think i'll pass.

#215713Post 13 of 30

HAHAHAAAAA, that's sooo funny, I've seen this happen too!

Especially during the early part of the night of course... they take advantage of the empty cool floor!

It's funny; I've observed this many times, but never read it from another person, espacially an Asian.

Thanks! :WinkNSmi:

oh yeah this is a very typical thing to happen in my neck of the woods. I was laughing my ass off reading your view of this. It happens exactly like that..:D

#215979Post 15 of 30

Haha...i've seen the occasional asian circles. But what makes me laugh more than anything else is when I see an asian couple holding each other and shaking their heads back and forth. How the hell did they come up with that move?!?! Or seeing a large group of very old asians rolling off their asses :roll:

BTW I'm asian too...proving that I'm not a racist. Or are we just taking a poll here? :D

#216010Post 16 of 30

ya but on special occasions i find the majority sitting on the floor.

#216013Post 17 of 30

I tried to bust a move inside a circle once. It was fun!

it's not that much different than overseas in europe or uk.

well i suppose it is. there are very little drugs in the scene here thankfully, people really know their music inside and out, everyone is friendly, there are no fights / 0 trouble, they have beer vending machines at some clubs, the sound systems and lighting rigs are some of the best in the world and they are all clean! :)

asia is a pretty big continent. can you narrow it down please?

#218554Post 24 of 30

Re:: asians and dancing

I?ve seen this in Turkey, very strange at the time, and i was drunk so i had to look twice.

I?m not asian but my missus is, do i qualify? :P

Re:: asians and dancing

This happens in Singapore too and it shits me off all the time! I don't want to look at your cheesy smiles or drunk lolling heads when I'm dancing! Face the DJ, damn it!

Talking about dancing like robots... you guys should see people dance on retro nights at Zouk though, it's nuts. Everyone has a set of moves to go with each song... and the boys and girls have their own gender-specific moves... it's all synchronised :Wacko:

Re:: asians and dancing

:lol: i love the "stick tissue up one nostril, hold pose for one second and then block other nostril and proceed to blow, sending said tissue flying out of nostril" manouvre :lol:

i predict all the kiddies will be doing this one in chirstmas 2004.

#243140Post 29 of 30

I've witnessed the "asian circle" before.. but they only do it here if someone's breakdancing or raving. Although one time I did start bustin' out my moves in the middle of the circle when I was around 15.. at a church retreat LOL :lol:

And yea I'm asian too.

Oriented is only used when describing food or rugs.
