Im going to Turkey for my winter hollydays (summers yours cause im the south emisfery), i wana go out there, not just make the clasic tours.. anyone knows the clubs of Istanbul? Dress code? etc?

Tune in to Dinamo 103.8 FM when you are in Istanbul to hear some good music. Definitely visit Club Crystal and Godet Disko which are the better of the underground offerings.

The sound at Club Crystal in Istanbul is absolutely unreal.... really nice venue. It's definitely worth checking out. Also, look to see if DJ Tarkan or Beyza are playing around there... they are sure to bring a good party with them.

More advice.... take a taxi cab wherever you go. Being from the united states, I know I sure as hell couldn't drive the way the turks do. They are all over the place, and the traffic is insane about everywhere you go. The cab drivers know what's up... I'd just trust them.

yes... be sure to eat lots of turkish foods... there's nothing else like it. mmm... and turkish coffee is to die for! 8)

I was there last October. Had a great time.

I visited some friends who live and work there. We didn't go "clubbing" because my wife and friends are not into that. But, the Istanbul Jazz Festival was going on at the time, and so we ended up going to several gigs based around that.

My suggestion would be to checkout Timeout as someone else mentioned, and then look for local happenings while you're there. It's difficult to plan and find out about all that before you get there. Namely, most sites are in Turkish - maybe you can read Turksih, great. But since I could not, I had to have translation when I got there.

Being local and once you find out where you're at and close to, you can start arranging for things to happen. The people are extremely friendly and a great help. Sometimes, however, if you ask for help, they may expect payment in return. But most people are very friendly about helping out.

Istanbul is a great city, lots to do and see. Definitely check out the Nargile bars where you smoke Hookah, have Turkish tea, and generally chill out. That is the life.

Its Turkey, you'll have a blast.
