LOL!!! Aint that the truth.

I wish he cared as much about his music as he does him image these days. I miss the BT that put out IMA and ESCM and would love to have him back.

you guys should check out the soundtrack from the movie 'Monster' all original material with him and some other guy and a weird instrument. the dvd has a 15 minute clip of him describing the making of the soundtrack. it was quite enjoyable i might add. he hasnt completely lost his touch imo.

(edit)

after doing some research, i've discovered that the soundtrack isnt even available yet. you can at least hear some of it in the movie.

I saw him mauybe 3-4 mon ths ago here in L.A - it was really cool! I would go again!

:Bingo: :Bingo: :Bingo:

I'll never forget I read this interview where he ripped at some guy that didn't like his music long ago and accused the poor guy of eqipment envy, and went on and on. I felt almost too far? My point is that shortly there after someone stole ALL of his equipment including his only copy of his new album. Talk about Karma coming back to bite you in the ass.

#215452Post 7 of 36

BT could be so good but he always seems to come up a bit short these days.

I'm really intrigued by this monster soundtrack thing though.....got anymore info?

#215469Post 8 of 36

re

i cant find shit online about a soundtrack. found one on soulseek that looks like the soundtrack, well, the track titles match some of the scene names anyway. hope this is it.

I saw "Monster" on DVD. The soundtrack is nothing to write home about, really. Then you get a buncha minutes with BT in the studio babbling his ass off with the director...what can I say, it's unbearable. Predictable corny music not up to par with his ego. That's BT for me these days. Crap.

you're silly. and you're looking at the soundtrack all wrong. its not supposed to be BT the edm producer. its not gonna sound like 'mercury & solace' or 'godspeed'

this music is genuine and original, and made to fit the scenes of this movie. and he did a great job with it. for you to say its unbearable and not up to par is ridiculous.

you should give it a listen on its own, and then decide. its impossible to hear everything he's done by just watching the movie.

now drink a beer and reconsider. :Naughty:

You're underestimating me. I never exepcted the soundtrack to "Monster" to be EDM. I knew he was going to approach it differently, but even in that framework I think it's not good...at all.

I love soundtracks (good soundtracks, I mean), and have a very nice collection of them. I love composers like Angelo Badalamenti (David Lynch), Nino Rota (Fellini, Coppola), Bernard Herrmann (Hitchcock, Scorsese), Ennio Morricone (Leone), Yan Tiersen (Jeunet & Caro), Pink Floyd (Antonioni), Ryuichi Sakamoto (Almodovar), RZA, Tom Waits (Jarmusch) and many others that I find inspiring, so I'm not critizising just for the hell of it. I seriously dig the genre and think he is not a good film scorer, IMO of course.

Now drink a beer and reconsider.

I read the interview and he ripped on him hardcore. I don't have a problem with BT...but he has totally changed ever since, "Movement in Still Life."

I'm hoping this is just a phase he's going through since he's "made it" big time. Oakie "made it" and hasn't come back...

The one thing I have to say is the Sasha & Digweed have "made it" and they never lost their path to what makes them great. Their style may change here and there, but they have been consistent.

Props and full on respect for Sasha & Diggers

amen brutha. seems you really know your shit about soundtracks. i can accept your criticism better now. it just bugs me when someone bashes something when they have no idea what it is really all about. imo, bt isnt the greatest composer or scorer by any means. but i think he did a good job on this project.

lets both have a beer and, well, another one after that.

well, lately BT is remixing tracks for tiesto so maybe their new soud will be more like tiesto"s sounds so i dont think he"s doing  just fine

#217393Post 24 of 36

i've read the cusick's article, and i think he has gone way out of the line, which i think is not a smart thing to do when u have a name in the scene. i don't support hipocresy but if i have nothing good to say about someone, i'd rather not say anything at all last thursday i went to the bt's show here in buenos aires. it was really good.

#217401Post 25 of 36

Re:: BT Lately?

IMO he is a good producer for the type of music he normally makes. He deos know his shit being a classicly trained musician. Though it's a bit trancy for me, he is good at it. As a dj, he is shite as far as spinning records, couldnt beat match when I saw him in Tampa about 3 years back. I saw him in Orlando about a year and a half ago. He did a semi live set mostly on Ableton. Did a good job, though he played all his own stuff. His new cd, well, the one before his Monster, Emotional Technology was waaaaaay too pop top 40 like. But I think once you start doing music for N'sync, that's not a good sign. again.. IMO.

Re:: BT Lately?

Personally, I didn't think the soundtrack to Monster was that great, and BT was not the right man for the job. The director was not approaching her film the right way. He does know a lot about music though. By the way, Monster is a fantastic movie! Charlize and everybody else that acted in it is very good.

#344793Post 27 of 36

The movie was great, and I personally enjoyed the soundtrack, plus I love the fact that he released it in DTS in a 5.1 surround format, When played in that format the music really envelops you and takes you to a different place. I enjoy the DVD quite a bit.

I thought BT stood for Boring and Tedious. Cuz' that's what he's like live.

I had the unfortunate experience of catching his live act in Denver two days before New Years @ Church. We went for Wyatt Earp from Casa Del Soul, who was opening, and honestly, i was morbidly curious to see what BT had to offer.

Audible nonsense from the beginning to finish. He started late because he couldn't get his laptop booted right or something.

Went from really good music (wyatt) to horrible music (BT)

two hours of cheesy 80, 90s remakes, crappy breaks, buildups, breakdowns, etc etc etc...

it's exactly what i hate about dance music.

#364114Post 34 of 36

Not even based on his over-inflated ego - his albums went downhill after ESCM.

Didn't his gear get stolen at some point? He probably should have just taken the insurance cash and bought something else to play with...

#364290Post 35 of 36

^ Yeah maybe a my first make up kit or something since he's obviously more concerned about his looks and judging by the pic on the previous page he damn should be since that's just plain wrong :Barf:
