I don't mind music "progressing" However I despise electro or whatever you want to call it. That?s all. Call it whining call it whatever you will. I'm old enough that have heard proper "electro" music the first time around 25 years ago.

lol...to think, a was actually enjoying the thread everyone started shitting on... this because i'm not fluent in dj-speak, and was genuinely curious in these written descriptions for the hazy classifications of EDM sub-genres. i'm inclined to care less now.

The problem with that progres or swich to electro and tech sounds is that its killing the personal style of our liked djs.. times ago everyone plays a diferent kind of muzik and you can chose what to listen chosing what dj youre going to see.. today all re playing the same fucking tech songs.. and i have to say that the djs that played all their carrer tech sounds play it better than diggers and all the new comers. I dont know if you have seem Bill Patrick Playing live, but any of his sets could easily kick the ass of any of our currently swiched djs.

Any way.. i love diggers, but is Fabric that looked "new" to us, was an old cd for the people that knows and plays tech. The owner of the bar that in what i speend my weekend nights buys a lot of minimal and tech vinils, and some times he plays at the bar. Usually a friend of mine plays son breakz and dark prog there, and thats why i go there. When the diggers frabrics come out the owner show me the vinils of the tracks that digger included in the "new" cd, and tell me the exact month when he buyend them.. and sayed "this cd maybe new for progs heads.. buts its not new at all".. what can i say to that?

I really miss the time whem you can choose what to listen.. by chosing the dj.. is all bored now.

That electro shit and all that recycling of 80's tracks, I hate it. That is not progressive, it's regression IMO. 'New interpretations'?? No way...lack of creativity: some songs were just fine the way they were, and now after all those wannabe-R&B loser-pimps starting to recycle perfectly good old songs and raping them, the 'progressive artists' are starting to do the exact same thing!

Seems to me that in their quest for progression some people have started using old sounds a bit too much...progressive is not just what's new for this generation (allowing you to re-introduce older sounds), it should basically be something that has never been created before.

the current scene is pretty dumpy ... it is either tech house or electro. which is fine when i want to pick a dj that spins that genre. i am sure tech house and electro djs are pretty pissed as well. "wtf. you guys spin this shit now because it is cool?"

i listen to progressive because progresssive djs spin progressive. fuck.

all music is progressive but the deep dark tribal dance music we used to call progressive dance hasn't gone anywhere, there are plenty of djs still producing and playing it.

As for electro or any other type of music, i don't mind it, i like to hear a bit of everything as long as it sounds good to my ears. You can't listen to one genre of music all your life, it just gets boring.

Man, alot of these comments just plain suck. If you don't like what DJ-Mega-Superstar is spinning now, find a new DJ to listen to perhaps? Or is the nostalgia so deep that you forgot how to search out new talent? Wa-wa-wa electro-house sucks, tech-house sucks, the scene sucks, yadda yadda yadda. [i]So much negative![/i]. There's a gazillion radio shows, djs, singles, genres, etc I've yet to hear, and will probably never hear, and some of them are probably exactly what you're looking for. So when you find something you like, that's where the MercuryPromote comes in, and you can spread the word to those that are also jonsin' for the older progressive sounds. I'm always open to new mixes so I wouldn't mind some direction from those that don't like what's currently on high rotation.

I'm just so sick and tired of the purely negative and cynical attitude some of these washed up clubbers bring. I don't like Cokenfold either, but I try not to bash the guy too much since listening to him back in the day opened the edm floodgates so to speak. Maybe there's some other guy who's tryin to get his foot in the electronic door and doesn't mind Tiesto too much. After all, it's better than what's on the top40 hitlist no? How receptive to other subgenres is he going to be if all these die-hard-house-heads do nothing but slam the guy?! Personally, I think it would be fantastic if we could all become a little more postive and show more support for the talent we do like rather than just always putting down DJ-McPopular in some vain attempt to look educated.

I guess my point is this: I would be absolutely shocked if there wasn't any progressive house being made today and the fact that maybe it's a little more underground than it used to be should give you all the more incentive to hunt it down and promote it more.

You guys do have a point to some extent about quality progressive seeming to be in decline . Most of the people who were doing purely progressive tracks are now doing prog breaks tracks, though normaly there is also a pure prog track ( which ain't as good a mix ) on the b side . Also sasha did an article for i think it was mixmag a few months back saying how cos there are so many "superstar dj's" now, up and comming talent is struggling to come through even though they are playing better quality sets than the headliner dj's . I would love it to go back to the day when u looked to see who the organiser of the night was instead of purely the dj rosta because then you trusted what music was going to be played and they would give quality up and commings their breaks .But these days clubs and events just want to get big names on the flyers to get people through the door and hand over cash
