Would you guys be interested in installing an HTML / WEB based IM client which embeds itself into the forums ???
I have been messing with a working copy of one and was wondering if folks on here would think it useful to have.

Prillian adds new features to phpBB that are similar to an instant messenger service, while still being part of your board. These features are typically accessed through the "IM Client." The IM Client is basically a new browser window that uses combinations of HTML and JavaScript to provide a central place for accessing controls and receiving messages. Individual board users are not required to download any software to use Prillian. Prillian runs through web browsers like Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla, etc.
[b]IM Client:[/b] -Two modes are provided: "Main" and "Wide" modes. While functionally identical, the two modes allow boards to have more than one template or window size available for the IM Client. Using the phpBB template system allows administrators to customize the look of Prillian installations a great deal. -Central point for receiving Instant Messages; IM Client automatically reloads to check for new messages at regular, configurable intervals or on demand. -Lists users that are currently online. Users running the IM Client are listed in italics. With the Contact List, a user can choose to show all users online or only buddies online. -Can list numbers of new private messages and users online (registered, hidden, and guests). -Frames allow for powerful JavaScript based Controls panel, which includes options for logging out, close all child windows (other windows opened by the IM Client or Message Log), accessing Contact Management and User Preferences editor, sending a new Instant Message, returning to the forum, and checking for new messages (reloading the IM Client). -Can be launched automatically when logged in users visit the forum.
[b]Instant Messages:[/b] -Full support for normal phpBB features like smilies, HTML, BBCode, and signatures. -Optional automatic deletion of old messages after they are read. -Option to save a copy of a message when sending or reading it. -Open in new windows, one per message. -Default Send Message window template includes drop down list of smilies, BBCode controls, link to BBCode FAQ, and options to turn on/off HTML, BBCode, etc., in individual messages. -Message subjects are not required, unlike phpBB posts or private messages.
[b]User Preferences:[/b] -Users can set a variety of options to make Prillian easier to use, including: -Window widths and heights. -Play a sound (on the site or their own computer) when receiving new messages. -Choose a style (can be different from the rest of the forum). -Several ways of listing online users or buddies in the IM Client. -How often to check for new messages and if they are received as automatic popups, a list of messages, or both. -Display new or unread private messages just like instant messages. -Determine how to interact with users from other sites.
[b]Message Log:[/b] -Users can read any message they have sent or received that has not been deleted. -Mass deletion of messages is supported.
[b]Site to Site Messaging:[/b] -Allows sites that have Prillian installed to interact with each other. -In the IM Client, see the users online at another site. -Send messages to off-site users (if their site allows). -Receive messages from off-site users (if your site allows).
[b]FAQ Pages:[/b] -Helps users understand what Prillian is and what it can do. -Contact List FAQ highlights many of the Contact List features.
[b]Contact List:[/b] -Expandable with another modification (Contact List) which adds more features dealing with other parts of phpBB. -Contact List Control Panel, with the following abilities: -Add or remove users to lists, or move users from one list or another. -Set alert preferences for Buddies, to alert you when they come online/go offline. -All changes must be confirmed before they are actually made. -Users can be displayed in alphabetical order or reverse alphabetical order. -You can view a list of users that have added you to one of their lists. -When a user is added to another user's buddy list, that user will receive a private message informing them of the change (this includes the typical "notify on new private message" options). -Administrators and Moderators cannot be ignored or disallowed. -Add multiple users to a list at one time. -Buddy List Features: -A "Buddies" button is available when sending a IM. Clicking it launches a new window that lists the user's buddies and their online/offline status. -You can be alerted when your buddies come online or go offline. -Ignore List Features: -When User A is ignoring User B: -User B cannot send instant messages to User A. -User A will not see User B in Users Online list in the IM Client. -Disallow List Features: -When User A has listed User B on User A's Disallow List: -User B cannot view User A in Users Online list in the IM Client. -User B cannot send instant messages to User A.

wow!
thats some hard core shitt... go for it! :Bingo: :Bingo:
sounds great! bring it on e:)
Sounds terrifi!!! I support that
Sure... I still don't think I completely understood, but it sounds cool.
I know Prillian ... I don`t really like the idea ... but as long as I can close it whenever I want it is ok :)
Install it e !
Isn't [MS] starting to become more about clutter and features then it is music? :?
well to be honest, in the beginning, whatever little modification was being done was by sheppie while I was concentrating on getting all the toonz. With TomTom now administrator and able to get the toonz in place faster, I have time to make this place a little more of a convenience for all who spend their time a lot on the boards.
plus I love php, kinda like a playground for me

so we know who to blame when things go crash...:ROFLMAO:
sounds good to me :)
I believe I will not use it or I'd get fired for sure. MS takes too much time probably already, this would be more evidence.
excellent idea
as i've read seems interesting... go for it!! :Naughty:
[color=#ff0000][/color]That sounds great ,let's give it a try
why not!? new features are always apreciated8)
sounds very interesting to me
[quote=Northern Exposed]Isn't [MS] starting to become more about clutter and features then it is music? :?[/quote]
i second that.
I don't think MS is getting cluttered.
So let's 'ave it!

I know what you mean, I think I was lost after the fist paragraph but I'm not very good with computers, but it does sound cool 8)
Re: MASSIVE IM MOD
lol, those were the days :)
Re: MASSIVE IM MOD
Those were pre-bart days though
They musta sucked :)
Re: MASSIVE IM MOD
other than the one time that we lost 230,000 posts, they actually didn't suck.... I loved fucking around with phpBB adding stuff and experimenting all the time.... vBulletin comes pre-installed with so much shit, I actually dont need to do anything anymore to the forums.... which I'm sure a dope load of fellas on here are thanking god for... ... uh-oh... I said God...
Re: MASSIVE IM MOD
good times... has it been (over) 3 years already O_O
Re: MASSIVE IM MOD
May 12, 2002 was when MercuryServer was born.... so yea just about gonna hit 4 I'd imagine.... but this particular DB was rebuilt in a little over a year (Sep 12, 2004) .....
in essence what we lost in the crash i.e. 6500+ members / 230,000+ posts in 2.5 from 2002 - Aug 2004, we have rebuilt in about a year since.....
Re: MASSIVE IM MOD
