Re: Soundcloud about to colapse

Been poorly managed since the beginning. I loved it once. But I won't cry if it goes down. Although I will be pissed for all the artists that have invested so much time and talent intro it.

There are loads of different platforms. I manly use Hulkshare, but you also have Hearthis, plus others. Why worry about soundcloud?

Re: Soundcloud about to colapse

fuck, time to start archiving stuff.

you know when you think of a mix that you heard years ago but can't find it? I can usually find it on soundcloud. lots more popping up on mixcloud lately though. it's gonna be like the rapid/mega crash a few years ago.

Re: Soundcloud about to colapse

I still find a lot of stuff on soulseek :)

Plus, most things on soundcloud do not have download option anymore

Yeah i hear you... But besides you can easily download all SC stuff (128 tho) its like SC is confort zone .. and to be honest confort zone sounds great because there are loads of good music just a couple of clicks away..

I will survive no matter what tho

It amazes me how stupid you have to be to blow 70M in one year and still can´t manage to put the company back on track.

Would be sad if it´s gone, i use it on a daily basis.

Re: Soundcloud about to colapse

this is their response RA News: SoundCloud denies it's running out of money, claims it's 'confident' about profitability

but lets look at this logistically, they increased their user base by forcing people to log into the site to download stuff which means they also increased their out take of money in streaming as the site became more popular and also at the same time they did that thing with the dj mixes where they forced it's users to not allow downloads if they wanted them to host their work, pretty dumb imo, it would probably cost them less if they just let people download rather than stream

in 2015 they lost something like 50 M, last year twitter invested 70 M but the above ^ happened and they also introduced soundcloud go which is probably hemorrhaging as much money as spotify is

#1775139Post 19 of 48

Re: Soundcloud about to colapse

now it's being attacked to hell with bots from everywhere, porn, the lot which means paying customers are being forced to either delete and report about 5-6 bots from each upload they do ( sometimes a LOT more ) or go somewhere else, many take the latter option, this is going to just get worse until they take care of that

imo it's in a state of fatigue right now with not much options, it'll collapse this time i think, i honestly don't know how much more stress it can take at this rate

That's some weak ass response lol .. If i were an investor i wouldn't be eager to put any money there, i mean they are dropping million like crazy and still laid off 40% of their staff but ""We continue to be confident the changes made last week put us on our path to profitability and ensure SoundCloud's long-term viability." C´mon. Only others big companies that eventually will shut down as well but still have money to waste (like twitter) may do another shot on this one.

But what do i know about this, nothing.. i just use their platform for free and have a few complains

#1775146Post 21 of 48

Re: Soundcloud about to colapse

so do i man and i'll continue to until they sort themselves out, i,m not paying good money to upload only to have to sit and get rid of bots everywhere

Re: Soundcloud about to colapse

i hope it can sort itself out, it was an innovation when it first came out, how many times we talked about it now...it will just keep getting worse and worse until it pulls it's own finger out it's behind and does something about it

both companies were set up differently, not sure exactly how but i know that youtube was set up in a way where is has certain rights towards music in the same way mixcloud has, soundcloud didn't do that... i think it has something to do with royalties

#1775205Post 38 of 48

Re: Soundcloud about to colapse

Mixcloud did it but not having any downloads, Youtube did it by making up their own special license  Soundcloud thought they were smart but really weren't :)

Re: Soundcloud about to colapse

Thankfully we now have live streamed dj sets from places like Mixmag and Boiler Room. Just need more of them. Was talking with some friends the other day about live streaming their monthly event.

as i've got older i'm trending towards the opposite opinion, the site you mentioned have so much choice and are more or less doing it once a week, boiler room even more, boiler room broadcasts a lot of content that most people just won't watch so it tend to drive a lot of people away from it and who know if they watch out for the people they like or not...there is just so much stuff out there nowadays
