How many of you spin in a club/rave/houseparty setting on a weekly Basis?
Myself Currently 2 Nights a week, soon to be Three at the same club.
Reason for this, just curious really. :)

i havent played out on a regular basis in a couple years. but things are turning around next month. travelling to Utah for a gig, then Florida shortly after. hopefully meet some more promoters who would like to book me.
:hint hint:
Re: Question.
Good for you Jib, glad to see you are getting out there bro. Wish I could play in Florida.
I am playing two gigs right now on a regular basis. One is a monthly residency at a local bar where I help do a night.
The other is a partnership with a fellow dj friend that lets me come and spin with him on his Saturday gig that he has.
Playing out has really helped me get a feel for things that you don't think of when you're at home practicing.
Get me a CD jib, or a place i can download you!
Club i work in is always looking for talent to book.
e-mail me info@3dxproductions.com
email sent. now im off to work, so dont expect a reply. :P

Same here...then I get the occassional gig out here and there...
Re: Question.
I have had a weekly thurs night residency for 3 years. Still going strong.
I also do first sat's of the month at a different club.
The rest, just one offs here and there when i get the chance.
hopefully meet some more promoters who would like to book me.
I'd like to book ya. With a Brittanica straight to the kisser!
no Webster? :?
jibs is playing in utah!!!
Re: Question.
Just wondering...how many of you DJs still play vinyl as opposed to CDs?
Re: Question.
I only play vinyl now at my house. The last four or five times I've played out...I've played cd's. They are just so much easier to carry.
I still spin vinyl at my house. But that's about it. I digitize the songs that I like and then spin them on the cd's.
I'm looking to get a Monday night event started here. But it may only be a monthly event. Which would still be cool. Monthly events give you the chance to not get burned out on them. That and it gives you more opportunity to get people to show up for your gig.
^ Good Luck with getting your event started. I don't really have the time to play out. Usually I just stay at home and dj.

70% vinyl 30% cds

Blatant "I spin more than any of you thread". Wanker.
Re: Question.
have yet to spin out, hopefully i will sometime soon...also haven't bought a record in months, its all cds now...
I had a bi-weekly saturday night spot at one of the afterhour spots for a while where the resident dj was doing the bookings but then the club owner wanted to start doing the bookings and he only books me on weeknights- once in a blue moon. He wants more "well known dj's" (locals) as he puts it . Though no one comes out at 3 am to specifically see a local, they just end up there for afterhours. O well its his club i guess.
Re: Question.
have something on an irregular basis, nad hope to organise some party by the end of this summer, mid fall...
and I play 100% vinyl. Until I get the money for a cd deck ;-)

So you honestly care how often people you have never and will never meet play out? Why?
Why not?
This entire board is for DJ's and Music. The nightclub i work in promotes their employees to actively seek out talent in all cases (Dancers, Dj's and even Bartenders). I see oppurtunity to maybe book a few of these people here, maybe not.
Good way to find out who can spin for a crowd is to ask.
Re: Question.
i do a weekly here in the summers on the outer banks here in NC. i also end up playin a house party every week or 2.
i still use mostly vinyl, i have myt bros old skool CD deck here now, and i actually brought it out last week and it's pretty easy to use. Altho i did bomb a mix totally with it one time...
Hopefully i'll be playin out in boston when i return in the fall...
