Re: Guy J - The Trees, The Sea & The Sun (2CD)

Very excited about this as well.

From http://bedrockmusic.bigcartel.com/products

Immersed in the world’s rich dance music culture from an early age, producer Guy J has become an intrinsic part of a forward thinking generation of electronic artists.

The last decade has seen Guy J climb underground music’s illustrious ladder, enthralling the minds of music lovers across the globe with his eclectic perception of how electronic music should be constructed. With a clear vision and much-envied trait of being able to create a contrasting variety of genres, along with gracing the globes renowned clubs and festival, Guy J now proudly announces his forthcoming album on John Digweed’s Bedrock records, titled The Trees, The Sea & The Sun.

An artist that carries a wealth of experience within music, Guy J first caught the attention of music heavy weights with his 2007 release ‘Save Me’, making the dance music community rightfully stand up and take notice of the young producers fresh new sound. With international support from John Digweed, who has pioneered his various projects, The Trees, The Sea & The Sun is the culmination of all the esteemed sounds that Guy J holds so dearly to himself, merged into a listening experience like no other.

An intrinsic component of John Digweed’s Bedrock family, Guy J’s previous two LP’s ‘Esperanza’ and ‘1000 Words’ received an array of solid reviews from leading publications within the music industry. Atmospheric melodies were married with minimal techno percussion in a never before heard fusion of left field sounds. Returning to Bedrock with his third LP, The Trees, The Sea & The Sun elevates the trademark sound that has made him the revered artist that stands before us today.

Drawing inspiration from a vast collection of influences, this release perfectly embraces and incorporates Guy’s mesmeric production style weaving through wonderfully programmed drum rhythms in ‘Equinox’ and ‘Live Another Day’s’ flurrying synth arrangements. Demonstrating his versatility as not only a producer, but as an electronic artist, the likes of ‘Mad Sine’ and ‘Paradox’ showcase the ability to create intricately crafted experimental productions.

A devoted producer, Guy J has never neglected the importance of performing at venues across the world; a regular at the likes of Space Ibiza and Verboten New York, club goers have become enchanted by his signature and never before experience blend of house and techno. Never straying too far away from this element of his career, ‘Opera’ and ‘Nirvana’ are two tracks that are certain to sound out through speakers of clubs and festival across the globe.

A vast melting pot of sonic exploration showcasing the extensive creative talent of Guy J compiled into two CD’s of the highest caliber; The Trees, The Sea & The Sun reiterates Guy J’s status as one of dance music’s most inspired, driven and talented artists.

Re: Guy J - The Trees, The Sea & The Sun (2CD)

is it me or does the little sales meter at the bottom make it seem like bedrock sales are way down. have cds really died that much?
i like extracting the trax in wav and having the high quality. i always try to support the really good artists.

kinda wish Henry Saiz would do something soon.

Re: Guy J - The Trees, The Sea & The Sun (2CD)
i like extracting the trax in wav and having the high quality.
You might as well convert to FLAC then. Exactly the same quality and far better tagging. And less space needed for storage.

Re: Guy J - The Trees, The Sea & The Sun (2CD)

thanks, I didn't know that, is there a good free program that will do that? I use exact audio to do the waves but don't believe it has flac.

#1753375Post 15 of 49

Re: Guy J - The Trees, The Sea & The Sun (2CD)

If you're using Exact Audio Copy, you can configure it to use an external compressor (like FLAC). First you can configure EAC to get all the info of the inserted cd from a metadata provider. I can also advise to use AccurateRip.

Here's a tutorial by Paperback Raita: ignore the voice

Then, from the menu in EAC: EAC >> Compression Options >> External Compression

Additional command-line options: (EAC will pass this to the FLAC files) -8 -T "ARTIST=%artist%" -T "TITLE=%title%" -T "ALBUM=%albumtitle%" -T "DATE=%year%" -T "TRACKNUMBER=%tracknr%" -T "GENRE=%genre%" %hascover%--picture="%coverfile%"%hascover% %source% -o %dest%

Now when ripping a CD, choose compressed, and EAC should create FLAC files. I ripped my cd's years ago, so I hope this info is still up to date. You may also want to replace the old flac 1.2.1 with the newer flac 1.3.1 version. FLAC - download Hydrogenaudio Forums - Portal

Great free player for playback and tagging flac files: foobar2000

Re: Guy J - The Trees, The Sea & The Sun (2CD)

^^appreciate you getting back to me. I may try that accurate rip that you use if its freeware.

#1753487Post 17 of 49

Re: Guy J - The Trees, The Sea & The Sun (2CD)

No problem, and yes it's free. :) If I remember correctly, when installing EAC you'll be asked if you want to use AccurateRip. So maybe you're already using it. (check EAC log files for the message: All tracks Accurately ripped) If you're not using AccurateRip, simply install EAC again and say yes to that question.

I really like it when cd-ripping software uses AccurateRip because the 'All tracks Accurately ripped' message means that the copying process was 100% succesful. No errors, so no need to check the files.

If there's anything else you want to know, check HydrogenAudio: https://www.hydrogenaud.io/forums/ for detailed information about ripping, encoding, tagging and links to useful audio tools.

Re: Guy J - The Trees, The Sea & The Sun (2CD)

^^^ again I appricate your insight. I do have one more question...

I have already extracted alot of my cds into .wav format with EAC. Instead of having to extract all this music again into FLAC, I was thinking of converting the .wav to .flac with Switch sound file converter. Would I lose any of the quality by doing this? Also was not sure if that is a good program to use or not.

just trying to save some time having to re extract the files from the cds....Thanks again

#1757586Post 19 of 49

Re: Guy J - The Trees, The Sea & The Sun (2CD)

Switch sound file converter will probably not mess this up but I strongly advise to use a more well known program such as foobar2000, dbpoweramp, and even EAC can convert .wav to .flac You can even do it from the command line: flac -8 "Your music file.wav"

The problem with all these methods is that the tags will be empty. There are ways to auto-fill the tags using Foobar2000 with a discogs-plugin. And also MP3Tag can do this, depending on Folder and Filenames. I ripped my cd's many years ago, so unfortunately I don't have the perfect answer for your question.

Check the hydrogenaudio site, the wav to flac question has been asked there so many times before. :)

I hope I am right about that

I have listened to 1000words recently and by god it's so good. Definite classic :)

Re: Guy J - The Trees, The Sea & The Sun (2CD)

I've only listened to cd1 so far. It was good but very mellow for the most part.

Re: Guy J - The Trees, The Sea & The Sun (2CD)

Some good tunes on first disc but quite boring generally.

Disc 2 sounds good at first listen but nothing mind blowing either.. It might be a grower though

6/10.
