How many pictures must be taken before leaders do something & change occurs? Godspeed the end of wars!!

The plight of migrants/refugees is always really gut-wrenching... particularly this one of a boy (& the story of his family) from war-torn Syria trying to reach the shores of Greece. Every life matters.

Re: Photography brings awareness; awareness must bring changes!

Maybe before the superpowers invade, destabilise and rape these countries, they should think about what's going to the decent people living in them. If they UK and the U.S. had had an obligation to let people in after they fucked these places, they probably would never have destabilised them in the first place.

Re: Photography brings awareness; awareness must bring changes!

Most of people who do not want these people in their countries don't want them there because they will work harder and for less money.

You want a British worker, they will drink tea, scratch their balls, want five times the money and do a piss poor fucking job. I reckon the U.S. is no different.

Unfortunately Australia did all that as well and then we treat the refugees we helped to create disgustingly.

Re: Photography brings awareness; awareness must bring changes!

migrant workers I've encountered in the U.S. are the hardest working & do the best job for the least amount of pay... grateful to be living in a free, relatively safe country. Let them all in, we've got plenty of room, abandoned houses, & whole cities in need of living human beings.

it's nearly 2016, can't the human race do better than letting toddlers die at sea & wash up on anyone's shores?

[[any problems I have pale in comparison]]

Re: Photography brings awareness; awareness must bring changes!

Well, invading Europe and demanding help is not the solution. We have enough problems here already. When my house is on fire, I don't flee to my neighbours house to claim his bed.

Re: Photography brings awareness; awareness must bring changes!

What would you do in their place ?? the situation for them is catastrophic, wars, hunger, poverty, if the european union can not help, then who ??

The United States. They started the war in Irak and left too soon. If you can't finish something you'd better not start it at all.

Nothing wrong with helping people, but we should help them THERE! These young healthy male Syrians roaming the streets in Hungary, should be at home, fighting their enemies! With more militairy help of the EU and the US, I'm sure the war would be over in just months. Then they could live in piece in their own country!

Make their country good enough that they don't want to leave. Most countries should write-off the debt that was imposed on them, as a result of war. I think the Iraqi debt is $12,000 for each man women and child in the country. Iraqi debt is floated on the stock exchange, which is pretty sick.

It's similar to the situation the Jews were in, before the second world war. Do you sit and hope that you will be OK or do you pack up your family and run. Personally I would pack up and run. The quality of living in the worst areas of Europe is far better than where they came from.

And if you are a grafter and are willing to learn the language, you could propel yourself to a very reasonable standard of living.

Re: Photography brings awareness; awareness must bring changes!

Making one's Country "good enough", after the civilized nations have wiped it away for misguided geopolitics, would take 100 miracles.

Syria is Obama and Hillary's doing. And I won't even mention Iraq.

Libya is the masterpiece of Cameron and Sarkozy.

^THEY should be on that beach!!

Sometimes you can judge and philosophy. Sometimes you just have to grab the (metaphorical?) gun.

Absolutely.

The most basic sense of moral from the most powerful countries should indicate that help is needed right now.. But to be honest, this is something new? This is only other example of decades, if not centuries, of human desidia in the most cruel form and at so many levels.

There are plenty of iconic photos like that poor little child ... Has anything changed? Probably yes... Is it enough? Absolutely not.. And imo it will never be.

Re: Photography brings awareness; awareness must bring changes!

Let's bring some more awareness as to why "refugees" travel all the way to Sweden, Germany, UK, etc. "to get to safety"

I can't believe the stupidity of our so called political leaders.
