Re: 2015 John Digweed Live In?

Possibly the only person who isn't loving this as much as everyone else to be honest.

I enjoyed moments of CD2, and CD3 has a couple of nice tracks on it, but I can't think of any amazing tracks that I wanted to go back and listen to really.

IMO London still way out on top as the best of the series.

My preferred ones are:

London Argentina Cordoba Toronto South Beach Miami Slovenia

Re: 2015 John Digweed Live In?
the sound quality of these mixes is always a bit muddy.
It sounds pretty good in my headphones (Ultimate Ears Customs).

In my car the bass is a little muddy, but the part that really doesn't sound right is the staging. The soundstage on this mix is really low for some reason. Almost like it's not in stereo, but mono. I realize most electronic music doesn't have proper staging, but most of the good recordings sound excellent in my car. They usually image nice and high like they should. This one is different.

Just something I've noticed....

Re: 2015 John Digweed Live In?

Playing a cd on a pc through a USB interface is an absolute guarantee of shitty sound so don't be too surprised by muddy bass frequencies, you're over processing

Also could be the over compression of tracks that have already been compressed, always undesirable and I don't know why they do it
I'm really digging the Agoria mix of Vermillion - I've never really paid too much attention to his earlier stuff, but I think his Fabric mix and this got me much more interested in what he's done and doing.
Not playing on a PC. Playing on this:

CD extracted to FLAC via XLD on Mac, and verified bit-perfect rip. FLAC player in car sends Optical Digital out.

Re: 2015 John Digweed Live In?

^ its always going to be like that unfortunately .. its the whole experience that counts.. when you taka away all the other elements like crowd, energy, drugs/alcohol, sound system, set/setting, etc. and you just put your headphones at home instead.. its never going to sound/feel as good : (

I always approach live sets with that mindset..

Anyway.. this is sublime.. I really like the flow

Re: 2015 John Digweed Live In?

Well, I must admit that I enjoyed more than I expected, Some tracks could be out but in general is a good selection, For some reason, on cd 3, he reminds me his great moments in 2000 and 2001 with that kind of progrees with dark techno and deep melodies and I really enjoyed. Has groove has melody, so, its really good for me. And definitely, head to head with Argentina on first place.

Re: 2015 John Digweed Live In?

Epic, such range. I am reminded of the thread discussing Digweed's lack of genre eclecticism. I don't even know what to categorize the stuff on this comp besides calling everything progressive, it's just good music.

Re: 2015 John Digweed Live In?

cd1 sounds alot better after a few more listens. but for me it really takes off on the second half of cd2 and continues through all of cd3. Unbelievable. Now i remember why i was flipping out after this show.

we can only hope we will all be able to hear the last two hours on transitions, there is no letting up on that part just hard banging techno. he never slows down even towards the last half hour from what i can remember.

exceptional Live In release imo.

I have always told people DJs like Digweed don't play a "genre." They just play good music.

Maybe that could be a genre? A genre called "That Which Does Not Suck." ;)

Re: 2015 John Digweed Live In?

I've just listened to the 3 CDs for the first time and it looks it's a very solid mix though, as always, there's a feeling a CD4 is sadly missing. A very proper and patient build up with such a short introductionto the beloved peak time.

Super flu / Kollektiv track is the final build up track after 2 hours ... i gotta say its even better than London. I can't believe he played this after banging the shit out at UMF.

if we harass him enough he may play the rest of it on transition, but it is a shame that london was the only one that had 4 full cds of the same event.

Not sure why they dont take the extra time to get approval and put the 4 cd set out again. its like we get a tease and are left craving more.
