Re: 137 guests
They need to get rid of the modertion approval on newbie posts.
Re: 137 guests
what on earth are the 137 guests doing? Just downloading sets from P+R?
Re: 137 guests
Aren't links hidden to Guests?
Re: 137 guests
yeah i think so...seems bizarre that people would just read the forum. It doesn't move that fast...
Re: 137 guests
bots
Re: 137 guests
Soundcloud links are visible to guests I'm sure and the majority of sets posted are from soundcloud these days.
Maybe folk are just coming to see what's posted and listening/downloading from here rather than trawling for the good stuff themselves?

what makes you so sure though?
Aren't links hidden to Guests?
Having read this, I checked the links in the ambient thread as a guest and they were visible
didn't think that was the case either
Re: 137 guests
Probably perusing the purenta section, nonsense thread and various p&r sections.
They need to get rid of the modertion approval on newbie posts.
I've got no problem with it. Been lurking around MS for years, but haven't posted until now.
Re: 137 guests
I guess you can't go to the purenta section as a guest?
Never tried though, so I can't tell for shure.
Re: 137 guests
Probably all of the above that explains it.
Re: 137 guests
sure
Re: 137 guests
IIRC puretna is not visible to guests, because of some google reason or whatever. The subforum was created to keep the original puretna content invisible from the internet at large.
Anyway what difference does 137 guests make? If they were interested in communicating they would've posted ...
Moderation approval applies to registered users, so they wouldn't count as guests?

^This. NBD.
I browse without logging in all the time.

Yes but when posts take a long time to be approved the conversation becomes disjointed. You may find some of them guests are registerd users, but just don't bother loggin in because the approval takes too long.
Re: 137 guests
The amount of pre-approved posts should go back to 5 or 10.
Re: 137 guests
The approval thing is kind strange I agree. Makes more sense to moderate posts - give warnings to members and then ban if need be, but waiting for approval is a major deterrent I would think from joining in.
Re: 137 guests
As a forum admin myself I can tell you it's absolutely needed as an anti-spam, anti-bot filter. In our case is an anti-Chunky measure and I suspect the number of moderated posts is higher.
Re: 137 guests
What's an anti-chunky measure?
Re: 137 guests
Chunky is a former user and mod, he got banned but came back with dozens of aliases.
Re: 137 guests
^^ And a HUGE contributor !!
Re: 137 guests
Here's a crazy idea, and I'm just spitballing here, but how about we trade Didi for Chunky?

I was just explaining why the strict rules.
Re: 137 guests
Sometimes, if I am just reading/catching up on threads, I'm still a guest on the boards, as I don't have the auto-login feature enabled. However if I feel the need to contribute then... I log in and post. So some of the guests may be members just browsing the various sections. Again it is the quality not quantity of posts that matter.
I was just explaining why the strict rules.
Just adding to that :)
