Yes you read that right! Provocative will be celebrating it's 100th show and man it took me nearly two years to get me to this milestone. This is the first show on Eccentric Beats and now with Mercury Sessions that has hit 100 shows so far. Yes I can bring out a name to guest with me to celebrate it but I decided to do something a little more special by playing dance music that inspired me before I took on the decks. You'll be taking a ride with me back in time and listening to tunes circa late 80's to early 90's. To those who know me for many years or read my early bios would note I was very much into Live 105's Steve Masters who was the music director of that radio station. He played a lot of the stuff you'll be hearing from me for this upcoming show. Lots of Razormaid remixes will be heard and you'll hear stuff from Hubert Kah, Peter Schilling, Mysterious Art, Microchip League, and more. In a way this is an informal tribute to Steve Masters and Razormaid.

The first part will feature tracks that would be the precursor of what is known as progressive house today. You'll hear tracks from Voyou, Microchip League, League of Gentlemen and more. Part 2 will feature songs I liked a lot during that era and you can see the t/l below.

I wanted to include Electrica Salsa but wasn't able to fit it in. :(

There was a lot of tracks I liked a lot during that era I couldn't include either. This stuff was the staple on Steve Masters show back in the heyday of Live 105.

I was thinking about doing a show like that monthly but I'd be stretching myself thin. I'm down to do it once in a great while like a special broadcast. If people wanted to d/l this show, I'd kick it down at some point.

it was fun and a pain in the ass yet worth it. I'm gonna give copies of it to a few of my longtime friends who listened to this music back in the day.

Cool concept of playing the "old" dance favorites from back then. please put this up in the specials downloads although I already have a few of those tracks.

I started clubbing around 1988 in Houston and that tracklisting brings back good memories.

It brings back the heyday of Live 105 for me and my longtime friends. I did it as a tribute to that period of time in our lives. I would do another set of classics but not anytime soon. I gotta get back to my routine!

I saw Front 242 there and The Sugarcubes as well...memories! I wouldn't mind getting a hold of the download when it becomes available! I would love to hear this set!

I'm glad to hear the feedback I've gotten for this set. It's great to see you guys appreciate the old classics like I have and I'll admit I wasn't sure how it would fly with the listeners.

What a great set! Just got done listening to it. I still own a lot of these tunes (vinyl) so it's great to hear them again but don't really listen to them as much as I used too. 8)

I had some on vinyl to this day and some on CD. I did sell off some of the stuff over the years yet I'm glad I held on to the tracks I liked the most. There's no way I'd ever sell it even though I could get some bucks off Ebay.

Everything I have from that time period is on vinyl. I have thought about selling them many a time, but then I play them and I change my mind. It's good to hear a proper set done, and it's going to be in my car for a while. :D
