High Quality Audio in Electronica?

I havent seen a thread like this and throw this in the appropriate forum if there is one, but I'm increasingly looking for higher quality audio and it seems like most people suggest rock from the 60/70's and certain types of jazz or live bands as the reference point.

For those with expensive and/or high quality gear, what albums do you have that you can point to in the electronic music genre?

Thanks!

Really glad to see someone looking for higher quality audio. It is a continual quest with me. How high are you talking about going ??

Re: High Quality Audio in Electronica?

Unfortunately, you can't tell if a vinyl album is just the replica of the CD edition (heavily compressed and EQ'd, hence loud and "brickwalled") until you listen to them or a review appears on the Internet. There is almost NO INFO about the source of most vinyl records (digital or analog source? Compressed or unlimited? What master?). So you need to research on your own. I've heard good rips of Aphex Twin's Syro, Flying Lotus and others.

That said, I've had fantastic personal experiences with James Blake's first album (a MUST! Your entire house trembles under the bass!). And Underworld, of course.

i think since i have so much mps that are shit quality that id like to at least get back to cd quality 44.1k 16bit Audio. I do know that beatport does offer WAV and AIFF options which may be my best place to start.

This also means that i will most likely have to spend hours on my computer, reripping my music from CDs that I originally ripped as mp3. I knew there was a reason why I still always buy CDs of albums/compilations instead of going the mp3 route.

I always click my heels when I find a WAV ambient mix. The detail can make a huge difference especially on the Bose headphones.

btw, I posted a WAV mix a couple of days back ;)

I have a couple of iPod Classics so I put my music on those in aiff/wav as well. And I always from beatport/trackitdown/juno in aiff or wav. It's a real shame Apple have discontinued the classic.

How are looking at listening to your music. ??
