What would you do if someone gave you a pair of these as a gift and you couldn't return them?

Re: Beats By Dre

they´re pretty big, but what´s the story with them? :not me:

#1735827Post 3 of 66

Re: Beats By Dre

I've never personally listened to music through a pair but I've heard good things. and for the price they cost I can either assume that they are very good quality or people are fucking idiots. but if I were given a pair for free, i'd use them. probably not for djing, but i'd use them.

Re: Beats By Dre

^^^ Yeah, I would probably agree with that.

They are probably the most faked headphones in the world. I remember coming out of the train station in Paris and there were all these young guys with handfuls of them

The odd review I have read hasn't been that good , particularly for the price.

I wouldn't have accepted them.

#1735857Post 8 of 66

Re: Beats By Dre

well that settles that

you could resell them on ebay for one MILLION dollars....

Re: Beats By Dre

I think I would keep them and give them as a gift to someone that would really make their day happy… that someone would be a guido or someone from the jersey shore.

Meanwhile, aided by having the Beats by Dre logo on the side of their headphones, Monster – the Brisbane, CA-based producer of audio and video cabling products known until this week as Monster Cable Products – took 53% of a US headphone market valued at the time by the NPD group at over $1 billion. Since that calculation, the market has grown 79% to $2 billion at the end of 2011, also according to NPD. Getting over 50% share in a largely commodified market is impressive work, and I believe has not been done in headphones since Koss, who had the first-mover advantage in a far smaller market.

Interestingly apparently Apple bought them because of the streaming , because America has this ridiculous system of a single judge being able to set streaming payment rates. Beats has this set at stupidly small amounts, which will come in very handy when Apple start to do streaming.

:roflmao: feather.

Re: Beats By Dre

re-gift for sure or craigslist/ebay if you have the time. re-gifting can always be tricky though in case they know each other (og gifter and re-giftee) obviously.

Beats are popular because of great marketing getting their product in the hands of stars...that's about the only thing notable about em.

While FB buys whatsap , Google starts their project loon... what does apple do ??? they buy beats by dre. awesome! Seriously, Tim cook has made a lot of poor decisions. None of them go along with what Steve jobs had envisioned.

Back to the headphones, they sound like crap some of their models do have a decent isolation though.

Re: Beats By Dre

Got a pair of the wireless powerbeats 2 for Christmas. I have been waiting to purchase a pair of wireless headphones for the gym/running, but hadn't found a pair I felt comfortable buying yet. I gave them a listen when running, and while the wireless part was convenient, they were way too bass heavy and I just couldn't keep them knowing they cost $200. Returned them and will put that towards another pair (if there's some ever made worth buying).

#1735945Post 23 of 66

Re: Beats By Dre

^^ who wants too much heavy bass in their ears? what were they thinking?

"It's all about the bass, about the bass, no treble..." is just humorous song lyrics, not a good listening experience to most

some drum & bass mixes are like that for me though, they sound like murder, no thanks. maybe to others they're relaxing, idk. To each his own. :D

Re: Beats By Dre

I've never heard how any of their headphones sound, but they do employ a very good marketing team. I think they simply took the athlete-product association started by Nike and co. while back and applied to their product..it still works like a charm apparently.

Re: Beats By Dre

I read in a recent issue of Forbes that Dr Dre was the highest paid musician last year and holds the record for most ever made by a musician in a single year. This is because he sold Beats to Apple for $3 Billion....of which he personally pocketed $630 million dollars!!! Thats a crazy amount of money over some shite headphones

The article I linked talks about how they just put the headphones on athletes and musicians and got them to use them in their vids, thus how they became so popular.

I see people working out with those damn full earphones, how dumb is that? Use some damn earbuds.

Re: Beats By Dre

Well, SOMEONE (Apple) paid three billions for that^, obviously considering it a good deal. Dre, who only provided his name and the reputation he used to have 20 years ago, earned 600 millions. What justifies that :)? Why pay that money :)?

Disney bought Pixar (run by Jobs) for 6,7, if I remember correctly.
