Re: Dog thread

can't state their names anymore ;), but the one in the front is 9 yrs old (Lab mix, got her at the shelter here) and the other is 4 yrs old (Lab+BorderCollie mix), both females. can't take the older one (with white paws) to any dog park or she gets swarmed by all the other dogs (idk why). And she looks bigger in this pic than she really is. Took this a moment ago as they were waiting to go meet construction workers outside [which they couldn't]. haha Both very friendly/sweet.

Re: Dog thread

Some awesome cute dogs. Unfortunately no dogs in my household. Only a canary.

I've always wanted a Black labbie, they remind me of Panthers for some strange reason.

Re: Dog thread

Our 9 yr old lab mix, "B" (black with white paws)... she'll wrestle for hours with any puppy that comes over, loves walks, fetch, she's the alpha dog here... she's just starting to age now. Been told by a stranger/dog breeder that she's a lab + pit pull mix based on her head shape & mannerisms. She's very sensitive to aggression, tones of voices, stress felt in the fam, etc. (she gets really clingy) she's my shadow, my first real dog connection. Husband used to try to play with her aggressively and it changed her whole persona, she wouldn't look us in the eyes, was defensive, etc. I asked him to go strictly loving/respectful with her and she became her sweet self again (sounds pit pull-ish to me). She's so soft & strong, almost knocked me down the stairs a few times, has made me lose my footing (don't think she's realized herself how powerful she's gotten). she's my guard, has very labrador traits as well.

S, our slim, younger dog is more my husband's dog, wiry hair (instead of soft), she's just a love bunny, very active, shy of other dogs, tries to be aggressive to dogs that come visit, is the rascal, loving/hyper type, likes to whine (ugh), lick your hand. She's hilarious & sweet.

They both listen pretty well... will wait, shake, sit, come, lay down, etc. S will fetch & do "high 5" :p and always the head tilt if you ask her any question. lol B used to fetch all the time. Both love to run in fields. Would have a pure Labrador, Great Dane, Mastiff... love big dogs. But love my mutts. :LoveYou: they have their own couch. lol (Realize TMI, oh well.)

B's "portrait"

On a side note I realize dogs must be training wheels for couples who'll eventually have kids ... my Facebook feed is filled with puppy pics from two couples.

Re: Dog thread

Definitely agree on the point that Dogs are much a like continually raising a child. You truly do love, sympathise, and care for this animal like your own blood. And I love those who do. For those who don't I'd love to throw them in a cage and make them sit in their own faeces.

I was recently talking to a friend how I feel that I for sure do not have the time to care for a dog, as much as I'd love to I think I'd rather sit this one out till I find the right opportunity.

Re: Dog thread

^^^ As a fellow dog lover who doesn't have a dog I would definitely agree with that . :)

Thanks Didi! We had it printed on canvas for my husband's office... we really like it also.

Very sorry about your cute dog's passing; I haven't ever lost a dog pet yet, must be incredibly hard. Sad they have relatively such short lifespans.

Re: Dog thread

^^I can remember the first dog that died. A kelpie/border collie cross called Sandy ,both herding dogs. He would walk with my little sister and I when we were kids, he wouldn't let us near a road if a car was coming. Some bastard shot him.

Oliver was a secondhand dog, I got him when he was two and he lived for another 15 years. I was pretty lucky there.

#1734037Post 26 of 28

Re: Dog thread

^^ Wow, protective Oliver lived a long life, yay! Hope my dogs live that long, you were very lucky there.

But poor Sandy, how  awful.

I looked up Kelpie/Border Collie mix dogs to see what your dog looked like and now I think our B might be a Border Collie/Lab mix because there are pics of dogs that look just like her with the exact same cute markings. Oh well, guess we'll never really know unless we do a dna test on her.... she's just the sweetest.
