Re: John Digweed live in?
Probably down to the Chistmas post.
Re: John Digweed live in?
Quick verdict, having listened it through. His best Live In-mix so far. I didn't think he could outdo London, but he did.
Whoa ok.
Re: John Digweed live in?
All 3CDs are solid as Bedrock should always be. Definitely Toronto is something rather like London and far far away from Miami or Argentina.
Re: John Digweed live in?
How many different genres does he play on it?
No jungle, speed garage, gabber, psy-trance, handbag or happy hardcore on there I'm afraid.

Re: John Digweed live in?
the best so far....CD1 is pure Digweed masterclass!
Re: John Digweed live in?
I've listened to all 3CDs twice so far and to be perfectly frank don't know what to think now. Not as good as London though it surely must have been a hectic night in Toronto with all these immersive and spacious soundsystems and an overcrowded dancefloor. I might try and think a bit this years's live at EDC Las Vegas or Ibiza's Special Live from Pacha could be slightly more "releasable" on CDs rather than Toronto. Apart from a 10-yrs old Casa Bulga and the final Michael Mayer's remix hardly anything jaw-dropping or stupefying happens at all through a 3,5-hrs long mix. I'll give it another try with headphones.
Re: John Digweed live in?
I think you need your ears testing Foreks !
Re: John Digweed live in?
just love CD1...excellent structure and some top notch sequences...Casa Bulga>Kerb Staller
i can only imagine how excellent will sounded with tracks like BBE_Hypnose....
Re: John Digweed live in?
Yeah, listened to CD1 on the way and back from work and was very satisfied. Looking forward to hearing the next couple of cd's.

Re: John Digweed live in?
Is it true that this is the last "Live in" ?????
waiting for the postman to bring the goods
Re: John Digweed live in?
^^^ I hope not, unless he's gonna start releasing live sets outside of his transitions show... I can dream right? :) Did you hear that somewhere?
Still waiting for my copy as well.
Re: John Digweed live in?
^^ read it online from NON-credible source. but wanted to check with the people in the know.
Re: John Digweed live in?
Is a money making machine for uncle john, so don't see why he would stop it really
Re: John Digweed live in?
I would think that if this is the last Live In, Digweed and accompanying marketing material will highlight that to get more sales and they would want to go out properly.
I heard CD 1 and halfway into CD 2, not an instant winner for me. Liked the first half of CD 1 but when it picked up, those tracks didn't really work for me. About to get down to some work and will put on CD 1 again.
Re: John Digweed live in?
CD2 seems the best music selection for me and then comes CD3 though I'm not the world's biggest fan of Digweed playing techno pretense. CD1 is another Transitions show. If I am to buy another Live in (?) it should be a complete 4-5hrs long mix from the very beginning till the final whistle. It's almost 2015 and I cannot believe 10-15Y ago such unearthly and full mixes as Centro-Fly, Beirut or Cavo Paradiso were for free.
Re: John Digweed live in?
again London was the only 4 cd continuous live in mix from the same gig and I dont think he will ever top that one. I was hoping for the full effect from start to finish. not the warmup just leading into peak and then boom its over.
Is a money making machine for uncle john, so don't see why he would stop it really
Not sure its a big money maker tbh. Bedrock will no doubt pay a fair chunk to the artists and sell these for a bargain price too.
I think the series is more abut getting the music out there and presenting John's sound every 6 x months (bit like the Transitions series did) as well as keeping the label flourishing.
Have to say this is the best of the series so far. CD1 is presently on repeat .. superbly crafted.
Re: John Digweed live in?
ok really like it, and glad that I get to hear some tracks I never would have heard
but what really pisses me off about these series is this is NOT the entire set same with miami and some of the others, but I guess he has to break up the set and only air 3.45hr of his set and not the full 6 hours....but what ever
I WANT THE WHOLE SET damn it!!!!
Re: John Digweed live in?
Maybe he'll air them on Transitions. He really should just release the rest of the set as special downloads or something.
Re: John Digweed live in?
He probably could but it will take much longer to get all that music cleared up for a release like that.. or it might be even impossible to do that for certain tracks. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the last one.. licensing, marketing, manufacturing/packaging, shipping, dealing with piracy and all.. depending on profit margins the whole thing might not be worth it unless he sees it as a marketing/promoting campaign and profits don't matter.
Its obviously about us as well.. no other DJ bothers to do something like that for their audience
Re: John Digweed live in?
^^^well said. I sure hope this is not the last one....it really is a solid release. Superb actually, have to say it matches London except that its 80 min shorter.
Re: John Digweed live in?
I seriously doubt he's making any money out of these, he sells them for way cheap for that. But it's most certainly an awesome marketing tool.
Re: John Digweed live in?
Listened to the rest of it, it's a very fine compilation. Found the 2nd CD didn't totally do it for me, but I kind of blame it on the activity that I was doing at the time (working out). Some sets are better than others for particular activities (ie. Driving).
Re: John Digweed live in?
don't really care for this one, probably sounded better in the club
Re: John Digweed live in?
cd arrived yesterday, bought a new pair of B&W 685 S2 speakers today. Lets test this cd out :-)
Re: John Digweed live in?
liked cd 1 a lot, loving cd 2 on the first listen. He played just like this when i saw him in Budapest recently
Re: John Digweed live in?
cd3 awesome! now off out for the night!
Re: John Digweed live in?
i just hope these damn rumors are false. this really is the best series out there, got to give digs props for doing these, no other djs even comes close to putting his sound out there like digs does.
Re: John Digweed live in?
order the cd from amazon you get the 3 mix cd's and a shitload of the tunes in mp3 format free

agree.. these are the only audio CD's i buy anymore.
if marketing, advertising and all of the logistics are too much, why cant he just release a set every quarter or something via mixcloud? is he in some kind of non-compete with the Transitions show?
a lot of DJ's embrace soundcloud and mixcloud, hell even sasha used soundcloud a lot in the past. i dont see why the Diggers doesn't.

those b&w look very nice! do they sound good? I´ll have to change my speakers for a smaller pair, due to space, and I´m afraid I might loose bass sound.

I had intended to keep the sub from my old 5.1 system when i set up the B&W, but I have found I dont need it. The bass is plenty enough (the room is 17 square meters). Check out the review from what hifi

Funilly enough, listening to more music on these things I realized the sound quality on the Live in Toronto is quite poor compared to other CDs in my collection. Has anyone else noticed this?
Re: John Digweed live in?
^^^ yea great speakers.
Still sitting here twiddling ma thumbs...
Re: John Digweed live in?
Like any other compilation, some good tracks, some good moments, nothing else, not bad but nothing extraordinary.
My favorite is still Argentina.

They are on Google Play Music if you scubscribe...
Needs more handbag IMO
Re: John Digweed live in?
I have to say i am thoroughly impressed with this set. Its more like London and even though I probably wouldnt consider it better then London, its damn close. Like it more then Miami, and I really liked Miami.
I really like the track selection, it sucks me in....dare i say Vortex...:p
My fav cd is prob 2, but i like the techy cd 3 and its ending. disc 1 is also very good stuff.
