Mp3 is the worst thing that has ever happened to music. !!
The worst thing that has ever happened to music is corporate produced pop music, giving an outlet to thousands of talentless hacks. I don't know which is worse- the fact that corporate pop is produced in the first place, or that millions and millions of human beings consume it.

Re: the Mp3 debate- given the option i'll always choose lossless, especially for home listening, but i've got thousands of 320 mp3s that I dj with in clubs- on a loud bass driven sound system I say you can't tell the difference whether i'm playing a .wav or a 320.

But mp3 has enabled the corporates to spread it far further and we end up with a generation who consume because they don't know any better :( Hopefully some will keep looking, for that something better. I still am !! . Mp3 is the only step backwards in music .

Many great Djs would disagree with you on the 320/ wav issue and I could rant on but the video says it far better than I could.

that's so true... you know, I have a nice hi-fi system at home, I love my CDs and I discover new sounds every time I play them. And every time a friend of mine comes home, and I offer "hey, sit on my couch, have a drink, and please, listen to any CD you like", they feel like "wow, this really is the experience of listening to music", and I mean every single person that came home. I don't know why only a few people care about audio quality.... anyways, they miss it...

me too, when I walk to work. With all the noise in the streets, mp3 320k goes very good. ps: you can have a decent audio system without spending tons of money, like buying vintage stuff (that was my only chance to get one).

Re: Distortion of Sound

^^ Definitely secondhand/vintage can be great. !! In fact my amp and my turntable are the only things I have bought new. My turntable would be called vintage now. :) I have learnt how to refoam etc speakers . So I have good speakers which didn't cost me much but sound great. Next job is a pair of Bose 901s . 18 drivers is a bit daunting though
