So we all know what is meant by "afterhours" or "late night grooves," but what about "First thing in the morning" tunes?" As we all get older and our focus has shifted from being out all night and into the early morning, now we are all probably morning people, out of necessity. What kinds of tunes do you find yourself fancying in the morning when you wake up?

For me, it's usually something thats kind of easy to listen to, not too complex, upbeat and groovey. Something like this actually:

Re: The Opposite of Late Night Grooves

Being an anti-morning-type, I like something rather cheerful, smooth & easy, and hopeful sounding... to remind me anything is possible for that day. :D For example:

Re: The Opposite of Late Night Grooves

In the morning I like to hear the most deep and smooth music that I can, nothing too fast, nothing too strong, music easy to hear, can be, down tempo, deep house, chill out or ambient or something like that.

Re: The Opposite of Late Night Grooves

How many tunes threads do we need? Songs that make you happy, songs that make you sad, songs that make you mad. Tunes that evoke memories, tunes that you want to forget, big tracks, little tracks, somewhere in the middle tracks. Either way just fill the thread with a load of YouTube videos that none will watch anyway.

It's a message board based on tunes, what do you expect?

How do you know no one watches them?

We need more & more tune/track/music video threads, imo.

Here's a song about a song of the songs meaning conveyed by the song.

Re: The Opposite of Late Night Grooves

it all really depends on my mood really, but typically id like to start my day (on my 40 minute commute to work) with either talk radio or music with a bit of a kick

its on my way home where i most likely listen to chilled out or some deep house to bring the day to a close. or some deftones or tool if its a shitty day lol.

I've decided American 50's/60's jukebox hits is the ideal morning music, on some mornings

Re: The Opposite of Late Night Grooves

^ great idea!

mornings are a very unique time of day!

Important, I think, to try to make them as positive as possible. :D not hard to do when you have a smiling baby or toddler to wake up to. Since getting this cat, I usually have cat poo right beside the litter box on the rug in the laundry room to clean up in the mornings -- gross.

One night, we were talking about happiness and how important it is to start each day finding something to be happy/grateful for and my husband said "Speaking of happiness, the cat left some in the laundry room." ... I laughed so hard, we now call it "happiness" every time the cat makes a pile for me to clean up. (Hubs has the job of cleaning up the dog doo.) So, before walking out the door for school "Wait, there's some happiness I need to clean up." reduces the disgusting nuisance factor for everyone, including me.
