  1. Key in the first 3 digits of your phone number into a calculator (not the area code)

  2. Multiply by 80

  3. Add 1

  4. Multiply by 250

  5. Add the last four digits of your phone number

  6. Add the last four digits of your phone number again

  7. Subtract 250

  8. Divide by 2 at last

Is it your phone number ??

Re: Is This Your Phone Number?

yea, sorry, this isn't so magical. Given x as your first 3 digits, and y as the next 4, you told us to do the following

((80x + 1) * 250 + 2y - 250 )/ 2

this simplifies to:

10000x+y,

which is your phone number since it is in the form

xxx-yyyy, so multiplying by 10000 would just shift X by four places to the left...

I'm bored at work.

Wow...wanna due my math homework for me???

At first I was like "Holy shit, it really is my phone number!!!" But if you think about it, all you are doing is putting in the digits of your phone number, adding a number, then subtracting the same number. Then multiplying by a number, then dividing by that same number, to were all you are left with is the digits of your phone number that you entered. So anyone who didn't end up with their number did it wrong.
