Re:: who's the most fun dj to watch?
danny howells by far,,,sheer energy behind the decks. SOS -SYDNEY
Re:: who's the most fun dj to watch?
danny howells and james zabiela for sure!
Re:: who's the most fun dj to watch?
DJ Collete or DJ Rap or DJ Mea. Total complete utter hottnnneeessss.
But no realistically, Carl Cox is the most fun DJ I've seen in action. The one time I saw Mauro Picotto he got drunk halfway into his set. That was amusing/insulting at the same time. I've seen videos of Tiesto live, he jumps around a lot which is cool. Oakie definitely has stage presence.
I'd have to agree with some other remarks, John Digweed doesn't do a whole lot when he's performing. But that's only because he focuses so hard on his music. Would you rather him flail his arms like an arsehole and miss all his mixes? Occasionally he'll look up at the audience and clap, but that's the most action you'll get.
Donald Glaude whith his funny faces when mixing, and Danny Howells with a differente style each time he plays.
For me it`s got to be Eric Morrilo. Ive never seen a dj be so animated behind the decks, he gets evryone up dancing with his happy smiley face.
I saw Morillo work a pair of CDJ-1000's and it had me in awe. The way he was using the sampler and the smothness of his interaction with it made me realize that it is possible to consider a CDJ an instrument.

zabiela! :HolyShit:
good scratchin skills.
would rather scratch my own ass :Bullshit:
At the moment, James is the only Breaks/Progressive DJ I can think of that even knows how to scratch. But seriously tho, have you ever seen Q-Bert or Kid Koala or even A-Trak live? Kid Koala can tear the roof off, I know cuz I was there when he came to town :Smiling:
Or for that matter, American DJs have to try really hard to be attention-getters because us Americans have such short attention-spans. I would love to see Donald Glaude or Bad Boy Bill spin live.

Danny Howells :Naughty:

Dude, Sasha was scratching records when Zabiela was still wearing shorts.

I know what you mean! I saw Roger Sanchez(for the last few hours of his WMC set@Space) using the CD mixers. I am always doubtful of CDJ's, but Roger S made me realize that if you've got it, you've got it! No matter vinyl or cd.
like most people on the board i'll have to go with howell's..........man's a maniac behind the decks.........really gets involved with the crowd, kinda like sasha used to do back in the twilo days
Re:: who's the most fun dj to watch?
I have to agree with Danny Howells. Extremely funny and awesome to hang out with after his set. Re:: who's the most fun dj to watch?

Carl Cox Donald Glaude Tiesto
Re:: who's the most fun dj to watch?
howells
Re:: who's the most fun dj to watch?
Proteus,he may not be everyones taste (hard trance) for sheer energy I havent seen a DJ beat him
Re:: who's the most fun dj to watch?
I saw Jeremy Healy about 10 years ago... and he was so off his face that somebody else was cueing the records while he did another line, then he'd jump up and whack the crossfader over, jump around a bit and then choose a record for his 'assistant DJ' to cue. And that went on for two hours.
Easily the most entertaining 'off-his-head' DJ. :Bingo:
Lee Burridge is one of the most fun DJ's I've ever had the pleasure of seeing.
For sure.. also Howells is a very funny guy
Danny Howells makes a helluva show, so does Junkie XL.
Re:: who's the most fun dj to watch?
dj perez or piriz or whatever his name is (perry farrel).
i never stopped laughing.
10/10 for entertainment.
So Jeff Mills lately and he is one fun DJ to watch , he intercats with his fans and shake hands while muixing to, I loved his music too .
Portia Surreal.....lol.
Re:: who's the most fun dj to watch?
Moshic is the man guys! All of his music/productions are really amazing!
^^^^^ this is a "who is fun to watch" thread
not a "who is a good dj/producer" :P
In no particular order:
Howells Burridge Carl 's my' Cox Armin van Buuren Yoji Biomehanika (he's mad!) Sander Kleinenberg
burridge and zabiela
Paul Oakenfold :Bingo:
Re:: who's the most fun dj to watch?
I have to defend diggers
i admit at times he's in his zone but hell if that allows him to give me what he wants , bring it on
I have seen him smiling, interacting with the crowd, and kicking beach balls up on stage ... I think when he has the guys with him Sasha, JZ and JVM he's more outgoing, when its him, he's in the zone
Donald Glaude
Re:: who's the most fun dj to watch?
burridge
zabiela :Respect:
sasha :CandyPop:
Wow you guys really dont see much excitement with your DJs judging by your picks.
There's a little fella we get for half the year here in Sydney, during the Ibiza off season. Goes by the name of Jason Bye...
You have never seen a DJ get up to more antics behind the decks than this man does. I've seen security guards threaten to kick him out of Home nightclub here in Syd for dancing on the decks, he simply acts like they're not even there, continues to dance on the decks a few feet above the crowd, security are going ballistic at him at this stage. He then stands there with his hands on his hips dead still with a cigarette in his mouth, crowd cheering, and someone pushes their way to the front of the crowd and lights his ciggie for him, he continues to dance, take a puff, then he gets down and back on with the job.
The guy plays while high as a kite, and is so animated for such a little fella. If you wanna see antics with good solid house music thrown in, do yourself a favour and check him out!
i guess that sounds like fun to watch. personally, when i go to a club to hear a dj, its for that reason, TO HEAR HIM. not watch his silly antics. if i wanted antics i'd go to the circus. just my opinion though. if watching a dj jump around on top of the turntables is your thing, then by all means.....
you may want to check out perry farrell next time he's in your neck of the world.
Jibgolly while I do agree with you, you don't get to hold residencies at all the major Ibiza clubs based on antics. He's held down residencies at Manumission, Cream, Amnesia, We Love Sundays @ Space, Home @ Space and Caf? Mambo. And that's only in Ibiza. The man does have talent.
^ fair enough. guess i gotta see this dude for myself.
Re:: who's the most fun dj to watch?
Carl Cox is great to watch perform...saw him at the 2001 wmc..
Gotta side with the crack head. I think it's great when diggers smiles and waves or whatever, but if he's in peak time I could give two shits if he was shagging a camel with a darth vader mask on his head because I'd be dancing my balls off.
cox & howells
Agreed, both very entertaining to watch.
i really liked lee burridge's attitude when spinning, he was all happy and dancing to every tune like he was one more guy in the crowd, he even left the booth a couple of times to dance in the crowd, i thought that was pretty kick ass
its cool to see a dj that interacts with the crowd or you see is having a good time...some dj's just look like they are there just for the money and dont give a shit if their music is rocking or people are enjoying themselves...
Boring djs: jimmy van m...i dont know if he was off that night but he just had a loong face the whole night.
diggers...although he rocks it, its like the dude cant lift his head for even a second unless he takes out his little digicam
