who's the most fun dj to watch?

well, i've seen many djs over the last few years and recognized that being a good dj is not all about staring down at the decks and mixer to make a perfect mix, but to also interact with the crowd. so the man doesn't really do that, but diggers is exempt cuz we all love him so much.

anyway, the most entertaining dj to watch (not only hear) from what i've seen so far are:

  1. carl cox
  2. lucien foort - he jumps, rumps, points at the crowd, he's great.
  3. d. tenaglia - he started "glowsticking" in the dj booth with 2 giant flashlights LOL!
  4. laurent garnier - he does this funky shake with his legs.
  5. avb - he smiles and raises his arms a lot.
  6. tiesto - he smiles all the time
  7. oakenfold - yeah yeah, i know he sucks but watching him do some feel-the-energy-of-mother-earth acts with his arms while stooping low during some massive breakdown had me laughing.

by contrast the most boring djs to watch:

  1. pvd
  2. digweed

what are your experiences?

edit: digweed doesn't really interact with the crowd or make funky moves but when he's mixing, that intense look he gives off is really captivating. just look at his eyes and eye brows. it's so intense.

oakenfold isnt entertaining, he is a self indulgent twat.

however. lee burrige is awesome to watch, he bounces around the booth like a loon, also steve lawler is cool, he takes the time to slap ya five if ya on top o the both and he reacts with the ppl , not to the ppl

#210268Post 3 of 269
  1. Sander K ( he'll come out and dance on the dance floor)
  2. Picotto ( to watch music is shit though)
  3. Junkie XL
  4. Ferry - he'll throw a pitch when the bomb drops

Most boring. Def

John Digweed- Doesn't even look at the crowd same with Luke Fair

#210281Post 4 of 269

For me it`s got to be Eric Morrilo. Ive never seen a dj be so animated behind the decks, he gets evryone up dancing with his happy smiley face.

#210287Post 5 of 269

I've got a few mates here and one says Coxy the other says Benhur (he's a local dj) and me i say James Zabiela!!

#210289Post 6 of 269

For me it has to be: Lee Burridge: Everytime I have seen him, he is always dancing around, doing a little dance with his hands with a huge grin on his face

James Zabiela: Same thing. He likes to jump around, plus it is a show watching him scratch. I remember seeing him in Miami at that party at the Priviledge. Everyone was watching him scratch snapping photos

#210294Post 7 of 269

Lee Burridge is one of the most fun DJ's I've ever had the pleasure of seeing.

#210297Post 8 of 269

Burridge hands down, haven't seen Zabiela yet. Hopefully soon though.

In no particular order:

Danny Howells Lee Burridge Donald Glaude James Zabiela Julius Papp Derrick Carter

#210309Post 12 of 269

From the ones ive witnessed and have to say that really pump you up with a smile would have to be: Dave Seaman, Danny Howells, James Zabiela, Chloe Harris, Deep Dish, Danny Tenaglia and Tiesto. Paul Oakenfold in my opinion is the stupidest with that retard haricut hes got now and the hands out to the crowd with his mouth open looking like an idiot is just pathetic.

Hey mate, is that your answer to everything?

#210362Post 23 of 269
  1. Deep Dish
  2. Danny Howells
  3. Armin Van Burren

The only reason I picked Van Burren is when I had the pleasure of seeing him he was into it as much as the crowd was.

I concure, although he looks like a freak in that picture, what a nutter.

i think its crazy how digweed rarely interacts (hes focused, and thats why he is flawless) but he is so in touch with the emotion of the crowd...digweed is the don!!!!!11

Yeah, it's so enchanting watching him stare at the crowd occasionally wiping the cokesnot from his nose.

I'll be seeing the man like at the end of the month @ global gathering - Oh I can't wait to watch him sit behind a laptop, it's going to be great. The crowd going mad as he hits the in a state key, then moving on with a swift tap of backspace to bring the crowd an amazing 'live' remix of cowpander vs in a state. A new era is born.

"everything everything in a state everything everything in a state"

</sarcasm>

#210480Post 30 of 269

Donald Glaude is a mother fuckin crowd pumper!

Oakenfold's antics are a bit boistrous and arrogant for my tastes, though he re-impressed me at WMC

PVD is not as half as boring to watch as Diggers or Sasha, though I prefer their genres more

When are you going to come to Denver so I can see you? :LoveYou:

I'm sure you've been here before, but I didn't know about you until after I registered on this board, so ..... you need to come back ;)

I'll be waiting. :WinkNSmi:

Maybe Dj NYUL, He is playing in little club beyond the mark from everything. He is a countryman.

#210571Post 40 of 269

I don't bother watching DJ's when I go dancing and if I I do, I look at them then only to see what they are doing while they are at it. Guys like Ritchie Hawtin and Jeff Mills on three decks are definately nice to watch as they are busy tweaking sounds all the time. 8)
