not sure what anyone thought of in retrospect....

firstly, i feel robbed i had to endure wink..what a waste, what garbage. i paid to see sasha. i did know wink was a "guest" but thought for sure he had gotten better since his "re emergence" . no luck. he was the same boring soft kick playing-nothin-new boring turd i remember from years ago. he even had to play mixes of "higher state of.." and "are you ready". whatever. (note to wink: there are more sounds to engage an audience with than come out of an 808 and a 303 in the year 2005.)

drugs are the only thing that probably would have made it palatable but thats sad. worse, sasha put him smack in the middle of his two sets. it wasnt even a proper continous sasha evening. heres one two hour set..oh..and hers another with wink in the middle. do this with digweed and fine..thats another story. NOT with josh wink. just my 2 cents.

did anyone enjoy sashas 2 sets? one more than the other? i thought he played too fast..some good tracks though..its sasha. his opening track was fantastic!! very very cool. the crowd was going nuts!! had some sort of countdown in it. probably an original? thought the room was way too boomy too. things def got lost.

whoever ordered that god-awful weather needs to be shot. cold and rainy in may?!! probably the same person responsible for $10 drinks....nyc..only for the hardcore.

go safely

wonderful. i fucking love your logic and i am sorry you had to deal with some strange form of neo-nazism. i would of sent a counter part to take josh wink out, a broken finger would do fine. in regards to everything else, sometimes you need to bend over and take one for the team. life is just not that simple any more, i am always looking for that big red button.

anyhow. welcome to mercurynation. please come back. you are my new friend.

Re: my sahsa/wink @ fundacion friday may 6 reaction....

I couldn't bear the thought of having another evening like the one with Lavelle. So I opted to save some cash and some of my sanity and pass on the evening,...that's right, I didn't go. I still can't beleive it. But I feel better about it because I can't stand Josh Wink live. I call him the theft of electro. Taking credit for stuff that's not his. You'd think Sasha would pull in some tighter guys to share the bill with. James Z and Digweed, now those nights will forever go down in the history books. Amazing sets! There's always next time. Sorry you had a bum night, and welcome to MS!!

Re: my sahsa/wink @ fundacion friday may 6 reaction....

I've always thought his songs were always really long winded. Too much repitition and no build up at all with them. Just building up with the levels of the 303. Boring. Hey, Josh...there are these wonderful things out there called keyboards and they make all kinds of new and wonderful sounds. Why not try to use one!

Re: my sahsa/wink @ fundacion friday may 6 reaction....

Seems a funny line-up ... you'd think Sasha would have picked DJ's that compliment him.

As for putting the guest slap bang in the middle of things - that's nuts ... what happens if he's playing a blinder ?

Re: my sasha/wink @ fundacion friday may 6 reaction....

Agreed. It was ok at best. I can honestly say that I don't remember one song. They all sounded the same. Not much to really dance to either. I felt like every time I looked at the booth, Josh Wink was on. Had I known that prior to going, I wouldn't have gone, let alone get bottle service for $125 a person (actually double that since we paid for my friend's bachelor party). Oh well. I had a good time regardless, but the tunes left a lot to be desired.

Re: my sasha/wink @ fundacion friday may 6 reaction....

i would like to say that Josh "SUCK ASS" Wink was horrible. He was so bad that while he was playing i had to leave the main room more than once because he was making me ill. He was also so bad that when i got home i threw away all of my CD's i had of him in the trash.
I dont know what Sasha was thinking but it was bad!!!! 3 hours of travel to see Josh "SUCK ASS" live. I should of stayed home. The only thing that was good was the last 2 hours. Sasha made it all better.
Also the crowd was weird!!!! I have never seen so many rude people in one room before in my life. Every time i go to NYC it is great, but for some reason that night was horrible, and Josh "SUCK ASS" just made it 100 times worse.
I KEPT WANTING TO GO BACK TO THE CLUB JUST TO SMACK HIM AROUND A FEW TIMES.

Re: my sasha/wink @ fundacion friday may 6 reaction....

I was there...WHY SASHA? WHY? The last two times I've been to Crobar NYC Lavalle & Wink completely ruined the vibe. I've been on construction sites that sounded better than what Winkie was throwing at us.

When Sasha first came on, I thought I was in for a treat from his first hour. He had the floor grooving...Then comes Josh the "JackHammer" Wink...good thing I was fucked up...I did stay til the last track...Sasha did make it somewhat worthwhile!

Re: my sasha/wink @ fundacion friday may 6 reaction....

I guess its a good thing I didn't go. But for those who were disappointed, Sasha & James Zabiela next month @ Crobar. I'll be hitting this one up most likely. :D

Re: my sasha/wink @ fundacion friday may 6 reaction....

I'll be unpopular and say a few things...

Sasha's first set was droning, canned, and dissapointing.

Every Fundacion party has Sasha play for 2 hours, and then the guest come on.

Wink's set was not BAD at all, just not what most people wanted to hear I bet, but I really enjoyed it quite a bunch... leading me to give more detail than was put in earlier... Sasha came back on at 5am and played back to back with wink for the remainder of the night... but during wink's set Sasha (i was down front center and saw all of this mind you) was digging it like crazy and watching closely to check out how and what he was doing... So opinions aside.... let the masses know that wink was on point, just not what most wanted to hear.

Sasha did get bonus points for dropping into Halcyon-and-on-and-on and looking down at me and smiling BIG TIME when I named that tune in 2 notes and it was a lovely dancefloor moment when he winked back at my "WERK!" shout. All in all it was a decent night, although I am going to get arrested soon for beating messy asians to pieces on the dancefloor should they continue to fall over onto me, not to mention the long island bitches (I just pull their hair when they step on my feet with their ugly heels). One fundacion left, lets hope for a good one...

    Umkay?

Re: my sasha/wink @ fundacion friday may 6 reaction....

Looks like the Sarsha fanatics don't dig wink sounds at all... I had the luck to hear him live in march this year and he kicked ass. It's a whole different sound dimension and maybe most of you just don't feel it.

Re: my sasha/wink @ fundacion friday may 6 reaction....

Wink is either hit or miss, when he's on he's as good as anybody, when he's not, it can be quite boring. I agree he needs to let those 10 year old "hits" go, it's over for those, and actually I never liked them in the first place.

i agree, kind of how mcdonalds is a whole different "taste" dimension from a proper restaurant. actually, i enjoy some mcdonalds once in a while so i shouldnt drag ronnie down with josh.

i use to be a Wink fan back in the hum days. His sound is just purely lost, no soul at all, none, zero, zip, notta. I can not pick up anything from it. The shows I have been to with him as a headline have been great, never really had a poor show with Mr. Wink ... but the last one was like 4 years ago. His new tracks and sounds ... just do not do it for me. It is like opening a box candy and getting rocks. Terrible.

Re: my sasha/wink @ fundacion friday may 6 reaction....

Buddy, i did not want to be the one to say this but i agree with you 100% about Asians falling all over you!!! Not only are they RUDE, but someone should tell them to spray each other down with a bottle of deodorant before they come out. Dont their parents teach them any manners????????????

But i did not enjoy Josh Wink one bit. Sorry i will disagree with you on that.

Re: my sasha/wink @ fundacion friday may 6 reaction....

Bit odd putting wink in the middle. But he is brilliant.

From the threads is seems too many sarrsha purists on the prowl..

I guess from the reports that maybe Fundacion hasnt been ALL THAT

#414731Post 22 of 29

Re: my sasha/wink @ fundacion friday may 6 reaction....

LOL, well Sasha purist or not, I thought the party overall until like 5 was horrible, and not because of Josh Wink. I liked what he was spinning, but no one else seemed to, and whatever little vibe there was left with all the disheartened people or something. Sasha's first set was really techy and beat driven. It didn't seem to have any of the usual soul that comes with his sets. And the crowd sucked. I'm Asian and I thought those Asians were scary. After 5, the room cleared to those who were there for the music, and the tag team wasn't on par with what happened the last two months, but it was still really well done. Definitely different sounds. Dancing to hard acid mixed in with the uplilfting melodies Sasha would throw in every so often was great. And I liked the old stuff, Age of Love, Orbital. The party started off badly, but redeemed itself in the last few hours. And having Wink in the middle isn't anything different than what has been done since this Fundacion party began. It's always Sasha, then guest, then tag team

Rumour is that Sasha is running Fundacion in the Space Discoteque this summer .. I sincerely hope the DJ set up is different.

Never fear Hos, I'll adopt you as an exchange clubber and make sure to include you in whatever dancing happenings there are during your stay. Not sure what is scheduled that far out just yet, but sander on the third friday of every month is a guaranteed wonderful night musically/peoplewise/and overall great vibe.
