I kept thinking this was tipped to be the next Roe v. Wade in American libertarianism involving womens rights, religious dissipation, and overall evolvement of the justice system as a whole.

A somewhat surprising result in its decisions, it involves so much from Obamacare, to corporate welfare of its employees, and none the less religious pragmatism influencing women, especially when America has its own Religious Freedom Restoration Act. It was clearly a republican victory, and to see the tail of Obama and his legacy is this a sign of what has to come on 2016, an election issue?

Albeit, the hearing is only effective of two nationwide corporations (Hobby Lobby & Conestoga Wood Specialities), it does open the floodgates for other smaller less corporate chains to claim religious connotations affecting their policies.

You could ask yourself is this a beginning of religious idealism, or a is this going to affect PR with these organisations?

Re: The Hobby Lobby Victory

I will no longer be shopping there. And I used to shop there quite often. I believe they will feel the wrath in their profit margins. Wait & see.

And so it begins: Supreme Court Grants Evangelical College Plea On Contraception Rule

I don't know about universal health care, there's just too much idiots to pass it through.

Re: The Hobby Lobby Victory

One of the myriad reasons I hate religion.

Re: The Hobby Lobby Victory

I don't know if it's religion or people's failure to just place it with reason to modern society.

Who knows?

Re: The Hobby Lobby Victory

We who think know . ;) This situation can only be attributed to religion .

Re: The Hobby Lobby Victory

This somewhat reminds me of Bush. Remember a while back on his abstinence stand to college studnets. Something along those lines.

Di, just count your lucky stars we somewhat live in a... Oh forget it who am I kidding with Abbott?

Re: The Hobby Lobby Victory

^^^ Have you seen his latest. ?? I am really , really pissed off at the people who voted for him. We are losing so much in such a short time.

I found this comment on an American site about the stupidest politician.

"Have you seen Tony Abbott from Australia??

George Bush jnr and Ronald Reagans love child... the one that fell out the shopping trolley and banged its head"

Totally deserved. !!!

A lot of what he does is religion based as well. George Pell is one of his top advisors.

Re: The Hobby Lobby Victory

^ Pardon the French, but him and most of his front benchers are the most irrefutable, bunch of no brained oxygen wasters I have ever seen, so far in terms of Australian politics, When I came to Australia, I first had respect for Howard, but that soon changed slightly.

This is the problem when Religion disrupts politics, turns into the 'dark ages.' Period. If the American justice system is setting this precedence, I may as well get married now, and labour out Catholic ideologies of a past time (bearing 10 children).

I love some tof the arguments people have made about this; Hobby Lobby gets most of their items from China, a country that I think has the highest rate of abortions and the single child mandate - Contradict much?

Re: The Hobby Lobby Victory

It is amazing how many women (historically) were actually against religion, if not adhered to the belief of secularism.

^^^^ Why is it amazing?? Think about the way religion of just about every kind treats women.
^Very true. I suppose I've just been over exposed to male oriented philosophers and atheist spokespersons.
Interestingly I recently watched a chat between Richard Dawkins and Lawrence Krause and one of the things they brought up was that educating women is the best way out of poverty. Atheists seem to like women :)

It was a great show, it was wonderful to see really intelligent minds bouncing off each other . Watching Richard Dawkins fully engaged instead of just tolerating was really good !!

Re: The Hobby Lobby Victory

On one hand, I get that a private business has the right to run its business in certain ways.

On the other hand, I really don't like the idea of a private business using religion as an excuse to weasel out of a lot of obligations and rules, or for justifying things like "oh, we don't serve gays / blacks / asians here...it's against our religion.."

Re: The Hobby Lobby Victory

^^ It's more than that, they'll cover Viagra and Vasectomies for men, but not IUDs and Plan B pills (which prevent implantation thus preventing the need for an abortion) and contraception that 1.5 million women use for health reasons other than to prevent pregnancy. They're not just weaseling out of rules, they weaseled out of a LAW. This is the best article (by The Daily Beast) I've read outlining the 5 basic misconceptions religious conservatives are misinformed about on what's happened and just how discriminating this is, not only against women, but also against "religion." (below) PLUS, their 401K plan contradicts their whole case.... so it's all about $$.. and you can't serve two masters God & money. I believe they will feel the backlash from women in our country in their "for-profit" margin very soon!!

It's a travesty and when I heard about it, I was so upset inside all day, then read FL's "chicks, females, madame, princesses" labels and it sent me into a tizzy that wasn't really about his post, just my own rage at the justice system and discrimination against women in general; anything even slightly derogatory ticked me off that day; I was even arguing with my husband about the case because he was misinformed; he had no idea they were still covering Viagra and vasectomies. We're women, we're people, we have person-hood just like men, we're all human beings, we all have health concerns, yet there's this double standard & judgements with anything having to do with sex or reproduction, it's time it stop... way passed time. The ACA passed for equality and then was practically overturned by Hobby Lobby, opening the door to many more corporations to ignore it as well. Madness.:Honest:
