I'm guessing you have not watched Richie Hawtin's Pioneers video then

Re: Would you go to a club to hear a DJ set if the DJ was DJing Remotely?

Another example of why this isn't true; Sasha's PSK set compared to his gatecrasher summer soundsystem gig. One a private party for some hardened fans, another a big festival to a tent full of less appreciative crasher kiz (I know this I was there). Did he play any different? No he played the same tracks in the same order (give or take a track or two). Maybe Sasha is dyslectic.

Actually I think I heard a surprising Sasha set recently, might've been from Extrema.
Yeah but when he was good he was exceptional.
But when he is bad , he is sooo bad. With the exception of a good but not great night with Digweed that is the only side I have ever seen of him.

It's the Sasha @ Avalon Hollywood 4-26-14. Surprisingly enjoyable but the bar is so low.

Re: Would you go to a club to hear a DJ set if the DJ was DJing Remotely?

If it stops half the crowd spending the night staring at/videoing the dj then yeah, could be a good idea

Vasquez has never done it fyi

Re: Would you go to a club to hear a DJ set if the DJ was DJing Remotely?

Hi yeah good thanks. Working hard, saving for September. Tbh I was a bit put off by some of the insults I got here last time and thought I'd stay away but in the end I thought "fuck em" and came back for a snoop. Yeah I thought kiwitollway and floridaorange seemed like 1 person so didn't understand the getting a room bit. I'm off to watch the football and have a pint. Any Uruguay folk on here? X

Re: Would you go to a club to hear a DJ set if the DJ was DJing Remotely?

I would love to know what you all think about programming in general ... i mean, i love both ways to put music to be honest depending the time a Dj works on a mix... not only a live mix.

I can recall several JW mixes with no flow which i honestly liked

Realy, because I'm sure I saw his name on a flyer for it (recently) for an event in the late 90's, in the UK. The reason I remember it was because he didn't do that many gigs in the UK.

The only transmitted somewhere set of Junior Vasquez i can remember was his NYE set from Twilo in 2000 Essential mix..Where was the other?

Btw i am curious when and where did Tenaglia his ''remotely gig'' ?

Re: Would you go to a club to hear a DJ set if the DJ was DJing Remotely?

Carl Cox was supposed to use it for Gatecrasher on the Millennium, but it never happened because of technical difficulties.

http://www.slickmedia.com/super/bn990906.htm
The Chemical Brothers have been confirmed for Gatecrasher's massive New Year's party, 2000 GC. They will be performing an exclusive two-hour set before 25,000 people at the Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield (UK) on Friday, December 31st.

The Don Valley Stadium will be put inside Tensile 1, the world's largest and most technically advanced portable structure, which is in fact so huge that the whole of Trafalgar Square could fit inside. DJs for the event include Paul Oakenfold, Sasha, Carl Cox, Judge Jules, Paul Van Dyk, Tall Paul, DJ Sonique, John Kelly, Scott Bond and Matt Hardwick. Carl Cox will be beamed in from Sydney, Australia via ISDN link on to massive 40-foot circular screens. Tickets cost £100 (!). The event is to be broadcast live on BBC Radio 1 and cybercast live on the Gatecrasher website.
Re: Would you go to a club to hear a DJ set if the DJ was DJing Remotely?

It's kind of funny that there is such little info on ISDN club events, it was the next big thing back in the late 90's. Probably why odd bods don't think any of their boys would be doing it.

Err that's not being transmitted to another club is it.

Re: Would you go to a club to hear a DJ set if the DJ was DJing Remotely?

No I guess not. I figured there's no point going to a club if I hardly even watch a Boiler Room set.

I attended an ISDN night at Lush, N. Ireland. Was Feb 14th 1999. Saw Sasha live and Darren Emerson via ISDN. Didn't care much for the ISDN set in the club.

I had forgot about that one.

Re: Would you go to a club to hear a DJ set if the DJ was DJing Remotely?

Wouldn't see a DJ remotely, for me the key thing (when it works well) is the way a DJ on form can bring the crowd into their set and then you get that live response to the music. If it's streamed I'd rather listen with a glass of wine at home.

Re: Would you go to a club to hear a DJ set if the DJ was DJing Remotely?

I think if I ever went to one of these events, it'll be like going to those swanky places where DJ's play lounge/jazz house and no one gives a fuck about the music. Sipping crap, whilst maintaining to talking crap. However, could be different if the music is blaring.

the DJ should at least make some mistakes during the set if he's not in the club :)
