Am I Nuts?!
Re: Am I Nuts?!
perhaps a little . my younger sister had twin girls first, and now has a baby boy. its rough, but it can be done, we are gonna wait another year I think before we have our second.
Re: Am I Nuts?!
Congrats Karen :) xx
Re: Am I Nuts?!
^^^^thanks simon! xo
Awww Florida, he is a sweetheart! How old now? How many years apart were your sisters twins & the next kid?
Re: Am I Nuts?!
Congrats Karen! :o: One is enough, you're totally crazy. I can't imagine having a second baby to take care of!
Re: Am I Nuts?!
DQ congrats!! I think only the mother can tell if more than one is right.
Re: Am I Nuts?!
its ok karen we've all know you were nuts for years ;)

Like 2 yrs apart. My son is 21 months :).
Re: Am I Nuts?!
^^^ he is definitely a cutie! how old are you thinking of waiting for him to be before trying for another?
Congrats Karen! :o: One is enough, you're totally crazy. I can't imagine having a second baby to take care of!
lol thanks Adam! I am definitely a little scared, but we are very happy as well. We have both always wanted 2 & having them fairly close in age was the plan (although we were aimin more for Brodie to be closer to 2, but I don't think 4mos off will make much of a difference)....we aren't getting any younger! we want to be able to do stuff with them without falling apart lol
its ok karen we've all know you were nuts for years ;)
har har Dom ;)
Re: Am I Nuts?!
waiting another year. :). it's more work than my wife bargained for, having less children in her family and being around less children growing up (cousins, etc) her perspective on the workload was unrealistic. imho
Re: Am I Nuts?!
maybe you are a little nuts but congratulations :) My own life is so busy I really can't envisage having time for children so I bought a tamogochi and that has satisfied my maternal instincts. I have 15 jobs already and combined with listening to music and training to be a sumo wrestler it often doesn't leave time to invent stories on the internet, make close friendships through wikipedia and make lists of my favourite things that no One gives a fuck about. Good luck. I take my hat off to anyone who has a real life and isn't living in a world of complete bullshit and make believe xx

Re: Am I Nuts?!
Congratulations!! Not nuts at all. I'm raising my sisters kids, she passed away 5 yrs ago in a car accident. I was unprepared for how much work it is, and I had lots of cousins and siblings. Being one of the younger siblings in my family, I guess everyone else did most of the work and took care of me. So taking care of children (or anyone) is rather new to me, but I love it. I have less time to take care of myself (the way I used to), but I believe this is one of the greatest jobs on earth and it's only for as long as they're needy little kids, so I don't mind. Kids keep you truthful and humble. They just lay things out for you and give you a new perspective on everything... especially kindness, I've found. If you're irritable, overwhelmed, or resentful, your kids will end up being kind of bratty I think, because they require alot of thoughtful, kind interaction and self sacrifice -- not everyone is cut out for. JMO Enjoy!! Blessing on it's way!!
Re: Am I Nuts?!
Congrats to you and your family Karen! I'm so very happy for you!
Re: Am I Nuts?!
It's how we are wired, well some of us... when I see a cute infant, I really want another one too. If I had a good job with normal hours we would probably be ready now. But we are just trying to be as prepared as possible for our next child. I think it's great you are having another and commend you for your bravery :). When my sister was pregnant with #3, everyone was a little shocked when they found out because her twins were more than just a handful, but she's good at meeting challenges and overcoming them. I think you are probably similar in that regard :). She is also a stay at home mom, her husband has a secure job, which nowadays is incredibly rare, but he's an actuary and there aren't many of them out there but the position has a lot of demand.
Re: Am I Nuts?!
^^^^thankfully my husband has a good job as well with the hospital, so that was a big factor too....my job has been super supportive & flexible through this time in my life, so I am definitely grateful for that.
Re: Am I Nuts?!
Congrats, well done!
Re: Am I Nuts?!
Congrats Karen, getting them back-to-back is the way to go imho. We've just got Rayna this past October and we're already talking about the next one.

had no idea you're a dad too... congrats
Re: Am I Nuts?!
A good flexible job for both parents makes things easier. Also, find people either in your family or in your community who've raised kids (like, did a good job at it too... lol), love them, and are willing to help out. That's what we did. Our neighbors are like aunts & uncles to our kids now. They don't just babysit, they cook us meals and have gotten so close to our family they'll clean or do laundry for us as well (she's a stay at home mom who just enjoys kids). It's kind of like the "good ole days" maybe like in the 1950s?, where people really helped young families out. People had nannies that were like family back then, even stay at home moms had them. You have to put your "we can do it all" pride aside and open up to help though, which was hard for us in the beginning.
Two is definitely doable for a two-parent family, 3 is a bit more of an adjustment. (hey, these pics y'all posted are adorable!) They say 3 years apart are ideal for harmony in the family... but everyone experiences challenges -- part of maturing. We're lucky we live in a really good area full of good people though, not full of transients or crime infested. Your son will feel jealous from time to time, but soon he'll have a playmate and love it... you'll get to see him take a leadership role, it's fantastic!! All good, you'll see!!! Your news makes me want to have another... haha Best time in your life!!!

I somehow didn't see this comment earlier......that is so sad what happend to your sister, but so incredibly admirable of you. Stepping in to raise her children is a truly beautiful selfless act of love & kindness.

Nice of you to say, but I've always loved them & they're my flesh & blood so it comes naturally to take good care of them... they are part of her that still here. I'm just honored she wanted them to go to us. You'll be fine!!

Re: Am I Nuts?!
She's a beauty Kamal and look at all that hair wow! My son looked pretty jondisy still at 3 months . Congrats bro!
Re: Am I Nuts?!
Looks like its baby season. Congrats to Kamal and Karen. My daughter turned 15 yrs in December and she's still my baby
Re: Am I Nuts?!
Thanks guys, Nick, like you, I'm sure Rayna will be my baby till I die.
Florida - she was born with that hair, in fact on her 7 month ultrasound, we noticed a lot of haze on the monitor and the ultrasound tech told us it was her hair lol. I couldn't believe it.
Re: Am I Nuts?!
:) wow, our baby was bald until he was like 7 months old or something . How is she with sleeping? Our first 6 months felt like marine bootcamp
Re: Am I Nuts?!
She's started sleeping well when she was 9 weeks. She hits the sack around 10ish, gets up at 3 for a feed and change and then again by 6 / 7 ish. Her first month was pretty hectic, had to get up every 2 hours to make sure she was fed, but after the 9th week, we sort of let her dictate her schedule. She's just started laughing so it's fun trying to get her to do it.
Re: Am I Nuts?!
:). Hope things stay nice and chill like that, but if it changes just remember the Ferber Method is your friend :)
Re: Am I Nuts?!

Re: Am I Nuts?!
4 and 6 for me. Almost exactly 2 years apart. But that is it, my wife had her tubes tied.
