Thought his 6 mix was excellent .. as was his MixMag CD from 2013.

Live Sasha doesn't get through enough new music : in many respects he'd be better delving into a back catalogue rather than plodding through an unrefreshed playlist.

His all night London set last year was great (first 5 hours) because he had to work hard and put together a lot of newer music.

Still think he's best at the likes of Space and fabric, and places that he's really up for (New York).

It's interesting listening to the 6 mix by Sasha, and he continuously mentions tracks he didn't use in Involver 3. Judging from the tracks featured in this mix, and on Involver 3, it's easy to see that the Involver mix is much more slower in BPM and the bass is more mellowed.

I think he just lacked direction with Involver and over worked tracks by the sounds of things. Also, the MOS factor could have had a big influence in it, probably usual artists in MOS will probably take 1 week to make an mix album, where Sasha takes atleast 2 hours to warm up.

I always questioned if there was ever a point to the beatless mix (CD 2 in Involver 3)

Since 2005, I think somehow, the Ableton did a great damage to sasha, he lost the touch, and changed his sound drastically. He can have some good sets but 1 or 2 from 5, Years ago He was very high on top, He is pure class but now, I dont know what I can expect from him. I hope he find the light in a recent future.

Aren't we post-Ableton now? Could've sworn he was feeling rejuvenated at rediscovering some new CDJ :lol: The tools can hardly be blamed if he's lacking the motivation and focus.

When you meet the simplicity of the stuff, you become lazy, you lose some kind of sense to mixing live (cd-in cd-out) picking the right tracks. create an atmosphere, bla bla. I said it before, like you, I think he is out of focus, and if he are playing cds again, i hope He finds the motivation again.

I should have quoted Illuminate, because my post was in response to his. Moreover, our opinions can matter to each other, but not matter at all to Sasha the artist. you know what I'm saying? If Sasha enjoys what he's doing, which I assume that he does, then certainly he has earned the right to pursue that. Since he's given us so much already.

Sasha's magic was the alchemy of mixing two records together in a way that took your breath away. Vinyl kept it simple .. great batch of records he knew inside out and we get GU 009.

This was pre-Youtube, pre-Beatport and pre-Soundcloud. With explosion of the internet you can ID what he's playing, hit the sync button or throw things into Traktor - anyone can DJ or pre-burn a set on CD.

To be fair he's tried to move with the times .. but the motivation and love of music has to come from within. Not sure he has the same passion and enthusiasm as 10 years ago.

LNoE is a good step forward ... shame there's not another NYC residency to help re-invigorate things and kick him out of his comfort zone.

Have to say that I love the albums he produced this year (they're not in the top 10 ever, but they just sound nice) and I do like his 2012/2013 Ushuaia vibe, but I didn't like most of the sets he played in 2013. He plays the same shit over and over again. And when he starts really nice and deep he destroyes the vibe with a poppy track somewere in the middle.

After taking a little listen to live in Avalon, he's below par again in my books. Playing the same tracks from years gone, no lack of variance. Mind you, haven't seen the guy live for a couple of years now, could be all different on the dance floor.
